the Scots ravers seem to be more of a genuine community than just a bunch of kids with access to cars, a lot of drugs/equipment and spare cash. However, Scotland is also much less densely populated than England and the parties are held in very remote areas indeed (I’ve seen a few online maps of the areas )
Even English crews used to have this mutual respect but people got complacent during the “good times” of 2003 onwards (a combination of more abundant resources and particularly good weather).
I dont know if i can really speak for the “scottish raver community” because the group of people i party with is pretty tight knit so theres less possibility of something happening because everyone knows each other. i dont like the sound of the english scene at all, gang problems and shit? no thanks. as far as location is concerned one of the spots we have parties is like 100 yards from a police station (one of the big county hq’s)

Participantthe scene in england is so different to up here…..we never get anywhere near that ammount of hassle with the police. thats probably more to do with tighter restrictions on who is told about the parties though. the police can be dicks sometimes sure, but its about mutual respect, if your not causing a problem then most of the time the police will leave you alone.

Participantcdj 1000 mk3’s, the cdj equivelent of 1200s. 2000s are total overkill and the menu’s are sooooo slow. file types are so fidly on 800s aswell

Participanti totally understand the appeal of vinyl, but no one can deny the massive list of benefits to using cdj’s or a laptop (traktor/ableton). The argument that digital sounds worse is rediculous as long as its a comparison with someone using .wavs as its not really possible for it to sound any better than that. unless of course your talking about the character of certain pieces of vinyl.

Depends what type of music you’re into mate! For example I’ve never heard of a D+B tune being on Digital format only.
It’s mainly just modener styles of dance that don’t really rely on gut-wrenchingly gritty bass that are digital only (and if they do they are missing out on some extra dirt from only going digital – ESPECIALY if they are using mp3’s!)sorry but imo going from having a dvs setup to just vinyl would be a fucking stupid thing for anyone to do.
September 6, 2010 at 7:48 am #1228722Buzz
Participantgaz a dvs setup will be quite expensive, ur talking like 170 for the soundcard alone if you wanna run traktor scratch.
tbh though, trying to wean yourself off a dvs setup right on to analogue is a big mistake, its not something you want to do considering the ammount of music you’ll miss out on. instead of spending money on vinyl you could just use it to improve your rig.September 3, 2010 at 2:08 pm #1228764Buzz
Participantehhhhh you realise amazon make this? it would be weird for them not to be marketing their own product….

Participantto hell with buying vinyl these days, if you wanna use turntables then get a dvs setup and you’ll have the best of both worlds. its all very well wanting to mix properly but going from traktor to a typical vinyl setup would be a bad decision imo
