I hope you’re not talking about maidenhead in berkshire…

I always wanted to live on this house on it’s own little island in Newquay with it’s own bridge:

Outside of this country I’m not sure although I plan to emigrate one day to somewhere with less of a commerical culture, that’s more liberal and has beautiful scenery

I like the mini free festival vibes with a few different rigs playing a variety of music with effort put into lighting and bars and other stuff. Big one rig parties are fun and gets the crowd on a hype, but there’s too much of an ego thing going on. I’m getting fed up of parties where it’s just about how many bass bins they can stack up with a couple of shitty mids on top, no lights + loads of k and nos canisters. It’s all about crews coming together and creativity and diversity

It depends what you’re going to want to do long term. If getting a career and financial independence soon is a priority then it’s definitely worth learning a good trade. Uni won’t be a passport to a top job any more, but if you need the intellectual stimulation of learning at a higher level and the chance to learn new perspectives on life, uni can be brilliant. It’s too difficult to really know at that age, a lot of people just default and go to uni coz it’s the done thing and end up with loads of debt and no real advantage. Going down the trades route will set you up nicely in the meantime, but uni does gives you the time to develop a bit more as a person and expose you to new ideas. A psychology thing I was reading the other day about life decisions and personality said to look back at when your where 12 years old, and what were you like then? Did you enjoy learning things at school or struggle?

Decisions you make now don’t have to impact the rest of your life, plenty of people need time to mature before going to uni with a level head. I took two years out after A-Levels before going to uni to let off some steam ad it definitely helped motivate me more when I went.

I don’t know much about the technical details but cheap Chinese products like that are notoriously unreliable and it doesn’t look like that one could power very much. Try asking on speakerplans they’re quite helpful, it all depends on your budget but tried and tested brands are probably a safer bet

maybe day time at a 3 dayer or something or a multi rig where all the other styles are already catered for, I can’t see it going down that well otherwise with the majority of free party people

on the whole it’s shite especially the wobbly ‘ooh im proper grimey and dirty mate’ commercial rubbish that has made it popular. I do like the reggae dubby stuff and Mt Eden are pretty good

seems potentially ok, I have a high k tolerance and testing small amounts of this seems different but subtly nice, but just had a sketch out after doing a few lines. I’ll post my thoughts on it after more experimentation and reflection…

I am honestly surprised to hear that the psy scene has more violence and bad goings on compared to other scenes. Is it a case of ‘undesirables’ entering the scene, or is this violence among people actually into psytrance? I’d find it hard to see how it’d be actual psy people fighting, esp. when the psytrance subculture is centred around psychedelic drugs, and the last thing people want to do while tripping ballz is fight, not to mention the fact that psytrance is full of hippies…

It has the same problems as any parties using squats in London, I do think the’yre a lot safer than most techno parties though. Although many of the fans are into all the psychedelic and hippy stuff this makes them perfect targets for those who aren’t

Ahh, nice answer – cheers dude! I can totally see why people would be put off by the cosmic hippie vibes – I’m a dude with his foot solely planted in the logic plant pot and the cosmic 2012 fairy drivel does irk me somewhat. I just can’t get my head around the whole disliking positivity thing – don’t see why people would prefer to immerse themselves in unsafe vibes, esp. when the music can be just as hard, if not harder, at a psytrance event. Is fucking weird.

I don’t buy into whole cosmic hippie thing either, but it’s something different and positive and its nice to have around at an event. I think kids who grow up in some urban or suburban-wannabe-city environments often equate things like aggressiveness and law breaking with cool and fashionable and compete with music and free parties on how ‘dirty’ it is e.g. squats and dubstep – this all goes against the whole psy thing which thankfully is a little deeper

I think some (closed minded) people see it as a bit too deep/trippy and weird to get in to and associated with magical pixies, fairies and the whole hippy mentality. This isn’t ‘cool’ when rave to them is just about hard and dirty and illegal instead of things like spirituality and ‘magic experiences’. A lot of my friends who are strictly into drum & bass especially, and some of the techno heads, will openly take the piss out of psy-trance and refuse to go near it without even knowing much about it for those reasons coz apparently it’s too soft and hippyish. This is a shame as some of it is really good music and the events and crowd that go with it have far more energy, creativity and positive vibes than other scenes (perhaps this is what puts some people off who just want boom boom in a skanky dark warehouse..)
