Try Banco da Gaia – Last Train To Lhasa remixes?
Otherwise try The Aloof ‘Cover The Crime’ album, think there’s one on there (quite long) that starts off waily and ends shunting along at breakneck.

you seen ‘Scratch’ the documentry/movie?… its truely amazing… everybody who hasnt seen it.. watch it its very interesting… shows roots/history of turntablism and hiphop. 😀

the second link youve posted is taken from it 😀

‘Scratch’ ROCKS, great doccie, jampacked with good stuff. DJ Shadow is the king. The Beasties are showing their doccie ‘Awesome! I fuckin’ shot that!’ at Sonar (and, I presume, a buncha other places in EU this summer) – apparently they gave a shitload of vidcams out at a NYC gig and edited all the material down. That’s gonna be a must-see.

            Hmmm.
Jester, that’s quite a Pandora’s Box you’re playing with there, mate. I agree with Raj on the “…like every other country – a combination of nice folk and people I would not give the time of day to…” comment. I’ve met some really cool Americans, and some not so nice.

Not any old President & Co takes it upon themselves to police the world. The world, rudderless and in crisis as it is, needs firm and considerate leaders who show compassion and vision. The Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld gang…all they care about is oil, cash and pushing the US economy to more and more (unstable) boom times to suit their greed. This dovetails well with big business, which doesn’t care much for namby-pamby environmental issues or the well-being of consumers. Don’t think. Just buy it.

The Bush administration’s handling of international and domestic crises has been reactionary and ill-informed, and despite plain-faced truth and proof, they do not back down and they do not show any humility or grace in the face of hard facts. And yet they continue to take aim at percieved or imaginary enemies, and continue to do as they wish, wherever they wish.
What they do is puff out their chests and thump their war chests when threatened or pointed out. They’re bullies. And unfortunately all the other kids on the playground have either taken their side or are feeling the heat.

Ronald McD is a symbol of all that’s wrong with the greed of big companies – selling unhealthy food to kids by using sophisticated advertising to get at the parent’s pockets. That’s foul play. They might do a little window-dressing and support some good causes (and ‘healthify’ their products), but they don’t do that to actually make a difference, it’s just good publicity.

            Maybe things will change soon.

            I hope so.

Some peeps are moaning and groaning that they’re headlining so many festies this (European) summer, all I can say is “YES PUHLEEZ” cos I’m gonna see ’em at Sonar, which is to say….KICK IT!

Going to a trance party (Psy-Patrick’s Day)…probably spend the night hangin’ out with Starfleet Commander Bob and have him convince me to take something that starts with a 2-C-T and ends with me talking Ixprikesh to the garden plants….always turns out that way, shocking state of affairs. But then, far be it from me to intervene if my doll wants to go, she’s the Minister of Finance and we’re saving for Sonar so if she says the budget is good for it, this here Minister of Arts and Culture is certainly gonna do some ground-level research!.

Jeez, where to start? A Swiss army knife, the big fucker with all the tricks, the magnifying glass etc etc at a BMX track when I was small,
At Reading 94 – a pair of Levi’s, quarter oz speed, big blim of red seal, and whole bunch of cash (front of stage is Treasure Central for a grifter)
After Whirl Y Gig once in 95 I had fuckall cash, spilff, nutting, then I found 20 squid, a spliff and a cold (?) 2-litre bottle of coke on the way home. Score!
Endless amounts of stuff at parties, in fact I find so much crap my girlfriend calls me….wait for it…..”My Little Scavenger”. Charming.
Mind you, she’s the first one to tuck into the spoils. Hehe.

I’m a copywriter, which has its ups and downs…still not sure how I feel about helping multinationals improve their bottom line, much prefer design-based copy rather than commercial stuff, but, gotta pay the bills.
Seems like today’s off to a better start though – had a thumper of a shorebreak session at my favourite beach at 5 this morning, so that’s got me all Zen and mellow, which I’ll need seeing as it’s gonna be another biyatch of a day, and I have my learner’s driving license tomorrow a.m.
                                Third time lucky. I hope.

How’ve I been? Not fucking good, is how. Not a happy bunny, not nibbling on lettuce and not hopping in a happy place. Don’t even have a rough weekend to blame either.

First off, at work, my beloved colleague legs it to Paris for a two-week jaunt, leaving me to cover her ass. This means not only do I have twice the workload but she also neglects to fill me in on major developments in the pipeline so I look like an absolute wanker in front of not only my boss but yes, you guessed it, clients too. But wait for it, there’s sauce for the pudding yet – as a result of the increased workload and lack of staff (we’re only 4) I cannot get away to attend a writing workshop which has been postponed once already so that I could be included. I’m a writer, this is crucially important to me.
On top of this my girlfriend has decided she’s bored with going out, seeing people and dancing and would rather stay home nights so that we can do ‘healthy things’.

Don’t get me wrong – I’m all up for people going on a restful holiday and I’m all for healthy activities, but for FUCKSAKE – can I get a little joy down here you great big cruel bastard gods!? Just wait till I get up there, I’m gonna tan your ears with a slew of bile the likes of which you’ve only heard about!

So. Not good is how I’ve been.
But I’m sure it’ll get better.
                                  It better.

                                  Phew.

                                  Thanks for asking.

Get a coffee can, stick cool pics all over the outside ala old-pencil-case-at-school-style and then get a whole shitload of matchboxes, cut the strikes off, glue them to the outside of the tin and chuck all the matches in the tin. Garnish with a kiss and voila, you now have an inexhaustible source of fire for the various reasons we humans need fire. Love at first sight for smokers of all kinds. And those who use gas. Perfik.
On the other/ush (what kinda fukn name is Ush, anyway?) note, put as many ahahahaha’s as you like, madam, and screw anyone who gets all fukn playground on you. Sign o the times, isn’t it? We’re all living amidst escalating tensions, so it’s bound to spill over when people are frustrated. Just like two lovers or freinds fighting – a little spat sets it off and the big issues come barging through the gap.
But I don’t think people here are generally that aggro. Mind you, I haven’t been here long at all, but as a newcomer there’s a nice vibe here, half the reason it attracts new peeps, I reckon.

No-one’s questioning the blood sweat and tears, but you have to allow for others to make their own way, and respect their choices. Elretardo got it on the nail, that’s what musicians do. Even some that i remember who were squat/techno DJ’s ten years ago are now working in different, ‘mainstream’ fields.

You obviously feel that the Prodigy sold out, that’s your opinion. But you’ve got to respect the right of others to like their music or, like the Prodigy, to make it they way they want. The fact that they used an image in the sleeve art of Jilted Generation which depicted the yawning literal & moral chasm that separates the free party community and the establishment and old bill should actually please you, considering how many people, myself included, were made aware of the issue through that image. I think that single image more than any other probably created more support for free parties among those that bought or listened to it than anything else. I mean, you can’t buy that kind of publicity, can you?

The ground was thickly covered with madmen and madwomen, the rain was goddamn relentless, the music was…trance, trance, house, and then we dropped some oldschool breaks, bigbeat and electro…which went down a treat…and then we promptly said screw this and went home to be dry and comfy.
