i worked for guinness in france and helped set up the first bar with a cold room in that country… very few pubs in europe even used mixed gas to serve guinness then, so the first pint of the day was 50% head and all the rest had no head at all
it’s a myth it doesn’t travel… it’s brewed in so many countries under strict quality control… the important thing is how it’s poured and that goes for loads of drinkApril 28, 2011 at 12:31 am #1238682
the current situation is a bit funny… i’ve just laid off myself and all my staff but i know that i’ll find work and have found work in the past because i’m willing to work, i’m fit and i have a positive attitude… but for a lot of young people it is hard to find a decent job i spent 9 years on the road (in greece, spain, france, israel, thialand, india, chile etc) before i had kids … if i didn’t have kids to provide for now i’d have no hesitation in getting out there and surviving but education is the one… freedom on the road is easy if you believe in tomorrowApril 12, 2011 at 9:30 pm #1238384
GL – good to hear your involved in TT i have a bit of contact with the local group, doing seed swaps and the like

good to hear Ooops! is having fun 🙂April 11, 2011 at 10:47 pm #1238383
glad to hear you’re keeping your head up 🙂
my own health is average and manageable now i know what the problem is (nothing to do with party lifestyle) but the health of one of my kids and one of my parents is not so good and that’s difficult
sorry to hear about your losses… each must have come as a shock
i can’t say that party lifestyle played a part in any of the crap that’s landed on my plate the last year and a half… i just haven’t had the will to go out and get my mojo on display recently and now i’ve found other ways of fulfilling myself i feel out of place if i go rave … but now the sun is shining i’m checking out a couple of vans, something to live in so i can rent out the house i bought to renovate to cover the mortgage until the dark forces are defeated and i can find work that makes use of my skills again… i need a truck big enough and a site friendly and safe enough that my kids can still live with me half the week
i need a financial respite for a short while as i’m close to making some real money … but close is no biscuit… we’ll see… the ability to adapt to change is the recipe for success
what are TT up to in EA? would be interested to hear some examples 🙂May 18, 2010 at 11:37 pm #1225792

right. i’m not getting uppity, but i just boiled a chicken leg for 45 minutes and it’s now a nasty looking sluge. the bits of meat that haven’t disintegrated are a weird combination of dry and sludgyOctober 9, 2009 at 2:58 pm #1208240

IF I WENT ROUND TO AN AUNTIES HOUSE AND SHE SERVED ME CURRY MADE LIKE THAT I WOULD TELL HER HER YOUNGEST DAUGHER WILL REMAIN UNMARRIED AND MOST LIKELY TURN INTO A ” HOMO”.
PERHAPS YOU MISREAD THE RECIPE, THAT SOUNDS LIKE YOU’D SERVE UP A SLURRY NOT A CURRY.
i make quite a lot of curry and that does sound truly dismal, but you put it much better than i could… boil chicken for 45 minutes???? BLLLURGH
but for really good friend chicken…
season chicken breast then coat with flour
fry both sides until cooked through and well browned on both sides
take the chicken out and set it aside
chuck some crushed garlic, thyme and white wine vinegar in the hot pan and stir it to loosen what’s stuck to the bottom
add a cup of chicken stock, turn up the heat and boil rapidly until the liquid is reduced to about a quarter of a cup
pour it over the chicken and serve it upOctober 6, 2009 at 9:09 pm #1207909

i think 2012 is the next galactic alignment of the planets, which occurs every few thousand years (roughly ever 3600 years, so last time would have been the tribulations).
there are all kinds of other alignments; the black hole in our solar system fires out vast quantities of photons in a line across space and we will pass through that in 2012
also our solar system is unusual in that most galaxies are binary and so there is a theory, based on some ancient star gazing evidence that remains, that our second sun will some into it’s close ecliptic pass of our cluster of planets at that time
so whatever you believe there will be something cosmic going onSeptember 14, 2009 at 11:50 am #1206361
one of the reasons they are going on strike is that even if the posties have a full time contract they can be sent home on no pay if there isn’t enough business. jnot many people can afford to keep a job where on any given week you might only take home 60% of what you expected to earn… leaving you having to choose between paying your mortgage or feeding your family.
another reason is the threat of pension cuts. if you reached 2 years before your retirement and you only pension was going to come from your employer, but suddenly it was going to be cut, leaving you without enough money to live on, you would be pissed off too.
I think the strike should be supported. it’s taken generations of people fighting to get fair conditions from their employers. seems some people on here would happily just hand all that back and be treated like dirt by their employers againAugust 3, 2009 at 1:02 pm #1204153
just saw this and thought i’d post it upQuote:Under recent guidance from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) local police forces have been charging community arts and music events for the cost of policing.
Any community event with a stage / entertainment license , a few stalls and stewards is at risk from the police charging for their services. These events are often run by volunteers on shoestring budgets and cannot afford the charges. A number of events are under threat of closing / not happening in future years.
Community events promote community cohesion, encourage community engagement and are generally a force for good in society, these are all key national indicators for the department of culture media and sport (DCMS).
We urge the government / home office to stop the police charging these
events for policing costs.
Please sign the petition online at
Also please join the facebook group
And please forward this to all your mates
Campaign to defend community events
it’s this charge that could mean the end of Stawberry Fair
