is anybody else interested in this or read anything about it. Ive just stumbled upon this website… Emerging Earth Angels – Karen Bishop and its quite interesting. Was wondering if anybody else has got any views on it or thinks its a load of bollocks. Theres a E-book on that website called heavens gate, which is also quite good. (was a bit concerened that it was called heavens gate initially as that was the name of that cult that all killed themselves when the Hale-bop (?) comet came round, but im pretty sure its got nothing to do with that) anyway interested to know peoples thought… :love:August 24, 2009 at 12:39 pm #1205192
I recently finished reading ‘2012’ by daniel pinchbeck.. was very interseting but I’m not convinced. He thinks humans will enter a new phase of consciousness starting at that point. Although I think this is possible and maybe even inevitable i dont think it would have anythink to do with the mayan calendar, ie I dont believe in prophesy. Although I think through lots of people working towards it and the explosion of technology and information a new phase awareness will occur.August 24, 2009 at 3:01 pm #1205184
I’m not really that clued up about it, but what is so special about 2012 then? Is it simply because the Mayan calendar happens to end in 2012?
Some people think there will be a polar shift around this time too.
If you ask me, we’ll get to 2013 and it will all be brushed under the carpet by a few sheepish looking people.August 24, 2009 at 3:17 pm #1205181
TBH I think the only “special” thing about it is fairly mundane and to do with maths – the mayans used a particularly complex year numbering system of interlinked calendars with both circular and linear timescales and 2012 is when one of the year numbering systems start again from zero. Others went “round the clock” every 52 years.
it is no more significant than the millenium in 2000 was in the West (which gave rise to a number of similar prophecies).
Any scientific or political developments in 2012 are most likely to be coincidences..August 24, 2009 at 3:19 pm #1205186
im not that up on whats the link between 2012 and the shift in consiousness (sp?) is, but just been reading that heavens gate e-book and a lot of it seems to make sense (to me anyway).August 24, 2009 at 3:24 pm #1205193
the mayan calendar doesnt stop or predict the end of the world, just a new phase of existence. pinchbeck thinks this new phase will involve a kind of psychic awakening.. the logic behind the book isnt exactly solid it just points to a lot of coincidences and trends.. its interesting nonetheless.August 24, 2009 at 3:31 pm #1205187

have a look at that book on that site mate, be interested to know what you think…August 24, 2009 at 4:32 pm #1205191
my mate knows loads about this … i’ll see if i can get him to post here about it …
afaik 2012 coincides with the reversing of the suns polarity and the peak temprature it gives off … if you look through history every time the suns magnetical fields get spun to there highest torqe and then reverce it’s them same times that civalisation is booming for humans (in the hotter periods of history) like the dark ages (even tho the name sugests otherwise it was very hot in theese times) and all the blips where you hear about major civilisations seem to majoritily fall around theese times of hot wether
this is why i am a bit sceptical about how much manmade global warming is effecting up .. as it only accounts for something silly like 3% of the actual warming of the globe .. the most part is to do with the suns cycle .. but that’s a diferant kettle o’fishAugust 25, 2009 at 8:53 am #1205194

Have downloaded it, will have a read as soon as I get the chance!August 25, 2009 at 2:38 pm #1205189
2012 is when the dead will rise from their graves and try to destroy mankind.
When this happens we shall be royally up shit creek. I have read the zombie survival handbook therefore i am suitably qualified to survive this impending nightmare.
PM me nearer the date if you fancy living with me in my bunker.
P.S. Just in case you think ‘bunker’ is prison talk then don’t worry it’s not. But you will need to pleasure me sexually. this is my only stipulation.September 14, 2009 at 5:54 pm #1205182September 14, 2009 at 10:15 pm #1205185
i think 2012 is the next galactic alignment of the planets, which occurs every few thousand years (roughly ever 3600 years, so last time would have been the tribulations).
there are all kinds of other alignments; the black hole in our solar system fires out vast quantities of photons in a line across space and we will pass through that in 2012
also our solar system is unusual in that most galaxies are binary and so there is a theory, based on some ancient star gazing evidence that remains, that our second sun will some into it’s close ecliptic pass of our cluster of planets at that time
so whatever you believe there will be something cosmic going onSeptember 14, 2009 at 10:27 pm #1205188
i think fuck all will happen
i’ll put money on it tbhSeptember 14, 2009 at 11:01 pm #1205195
I hope we our DNA changes and the human being becomes something greater and our world reflects that greaternessnessness….. but i dont ‘think’ anything will happen. It would be laverly if something did change. but hey all you ‘nothing is gonna happen’ party poopers should just shush… who cares if the people who wholeheartedly believe it are wrong?! what does it matter as long as they dont start a cult and kill each other/ themselves…. you can go back to not believeing and leave the others with their believing and then word eating post 2012.
Much LoveSeptember 15, 2009 at 9:54 am #1205183

this is one worry of the transition town dude. The other (greater) one is that flakey hippies will expect “the sky to provide” and do absolutely fuck all to reduce environmental impact of their own lifestyles or indeed anything genuinely usefil before 2012. He did point out that using 2012 as a target point for positive local projects may be a good idea..
the solar aligments do cause interesting phenomena, but I expect it won’t cause any great upheaval, they might affect some radio communications frequencies but they increase the range of others.September 15, 2009 at 4:24 pm #1205190
