Massive seems to be the go to plugin for bass on ableton, I can get a deep sound with it, but it sounds like I’m getting a click at the start of a midi clip with it…… i still haven’t worked out how to get rid of the click fully, but I’m only a complete novice when it comes to music.

Thanks, I will definately give you a shout, I’ve got a good one that sc wouldn’t let me put up, and I generally record one or two mixes a month as I’m into all sorts of types and styles.

Every now and then I uploaded to a podcast service my friend runs too

Will do, if you ever need something doing once or so a month at the weekends lemme know, I’d definately be game… my day job is a teacher and I’m still studying so time isn’t always my freind unfrotunately.

Another issue is I just play whatever I fancy, so can never guarantee what genre you’ll get 😀

Yeah shows are weekly though and I think I’d struggle to commit…

hence only looking with vague interest at the moment…. I think the plan is to get the 3 dj’s from our rig to do a show together, but we need to practice playing b2b a bit more as we’ve all got quite different tastes.

I dont mind a couple of comments made on the mic, but “spitting bars” can fuck off.

We did a new year party predominantly drum and bass, and I was trying to sort out some sound and light kit just in front of the stage, when some kid called me over and started MC’ing in my ear…. all his spit hitting the side of my face…. I said to him we’re not putting MC’s on, and he responded “Well at least listen to my bars blue”….

I just wanted to say to him “Fuck off you little twat, I dont really give a fuck about you or your bars, and definately dont want you gobbing in my fucking ear”…… I just said I was tired and wasnt in the mood and carried on with what I was meant to be doing, but serisously what fucking planet are some people from?

Im a total bedroom DJ and dont profess to have any skill with cdj’s or vinyl…… so I use a traktor S2 and traktor on a macbook pro though. Oh I’ve got a numark turntable setup for my reggae and dub vinyl, but the other one is under me bed doing nout

My housemate has two cdj 2000’s and one cdj 3000’s set up slap bang next to mine, and I am planning on burning some cd’s and learning to properly mix by ear, rather than half by ear, half by software.

No idea what my amp is, apart from its a yamaha, and my speakers are hand downs from my Uncle who’s a total rock music audiophile. I’ve got some much better bang and olufsens, but they’re at my folks as I can’t fit them in my gaff 🙁

Just perving on this thread as I’m kind of interested in trying to do a show somewhere, but am also quite scared as I’m reasonably new to all of this (been mixing since 2011 – still at the bedroom level).

But theres an app called nicecast for OSX for streaming, I’ve used it on another radio show, you open the app, and then it “hijacks” all sound output from whatever app you’re using to mix and broadcasts that….. I’ve tried it on itunes, and I remember using it once for traktor (before realising traktor had streaming built in(, but I’ve no idea about ableton – maybe worth a look?

I think its made by a company called Rogue Amoeba…… hope that helps 😀

Hey, I’m interested in getting a portable speaker/amp to play tunes load when im out. People keep saying minirigs are the way to go but they are so small. Whats the sound and volume like?

I had my first proper look at one at boomtown fair over the weekend. I was quite impressed by it tbh.

I built this myself a couple of years back and its great (although I need to fix it at the moment)
                              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8Km_ZsDSXM

That cost me about £60 all in, but I didn’t pay for the box, so say £30 for that its the cost of a minirig anyway. Main differences between what I did and the mini rig is that maybe the mini rig is a wee bit quieter and more directional sound, my box is probably a little warmer bassy sound too, but for portable and lovely build quality the minirig is the way to go I reckon. They’re bringing a minirig sub out too.

Wow, I think this is first time I’ve logged on in years, (Im not sure if I’ve ever logged on, but I re-stumbled across this forum) and found a 69 page thread dedicated to me. Im not sure if I should be upset or elated. But just to clarify, I’m not filth and there’s at least 2 other music/lifestyle forums that I’m a pretty prolific poster on that know me to confirm that. Infact ironically I’m pretty anti police as a whole as my twitter feed will confirm 😉

Also pigs can’t mix, trotters don’t have enough dexterity to them.

what is the definition of a ‘hard song’

Personally I’d have duranduranduran, end.user, technical itch or venetian snares as some of the harder stuff i listen to, but if you’re stick to tekno/hardcore etc im not so sure as ive only just started listening to a lot of that….. I like crystal distortion and the dj producer a lot however.
