WTF is happening to the country today?

When I first moved here in March it seemed safer than Reading (to be fair it is still about the same or no worse)

but this is just one of a number of incidents reported to cops recently (fuck knows how many don’t get reported or just end up with people fighting back but no other punishment to the attackers so the violence continues).

I know there’s a culture of fighting amongst young men and always has been (in some ways from the heritage of manual and agricultural workers and the Gypsy community) – but its something people are supposed to be evolving out of

and this sort of attack against an outnumbered victim is just psychopathic behaviour – worst of all these are main bits of town where it is happening 🙁

The only thing that has changed since March though is the better weather; some people don’t fucking deserve the nice weather and should spend their summer cooped up in HMP…

      Quote:
A TEENAGER has been left with a hole in his kidney, a black eye and a split lip today after two men attacked him in an Ipswich street.

The 19-year-old was walking in Princes Street when two men jumped him from behind, pushed him to the floor and kicked and punching him.

The teenager managed to call emergency services to the scene but then passed out, waking in hospital in severe pain.

Today the teenager, who did not wish to be named, said he might never go out in the town centre again.

His was one of two unprovoked attacks reported to police last weekend in which young men suffered serious injuries.

As reported in yesterday’s Evening Star 32-year-old Lee Brunning was walking home along Foxhall Road on Friday evening when he was punched to the face and his jaw broken in half.

It is not thought that the incidents are linked but a spokeswoman for Ipswich police said there had been a spate of similar incidents in recent weeks.

The victim of the Princes Street attack, who lives in the town centre, said: “I got kicked and punched several times in the face and ribs and I was very scared.

“When I came to in hospital I was in a lot of pain and I had bruising to my eye, a split lip, bruised ribs and a tiny hole in my kidney from being kicked.

“This will certainly affect me going into town – I don’t think I will go into town anymore. I’m still scared and I want to know why they did this. What was the point? What did they get out if it?”

The bar worker had been out celebrating his sister’s new job at Zest when the attack happened at about 2.15am on Sunday .

He was making his way home alone when his attackers pounced.

Police were today preparing to view CCTV footage to see if they could identify the attackers who have been described as white males.

Anyone with information should call Pc Alisa Newman at Ipswich police on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

CHIEF Superindentent John Fletcher of Suffolk police today urged people not to be afraid as violent incidents like this are still rare in Suffolk.

He said: “We must put these in context: they are isolated incidents but we don’t want to undermine how serious they are. We would advise people to take reasonable safety precautions and stick together with their friends. They should let people know where they are going and where practical use main routes.

“If anyone sees anyone behaving suspiciously they should use their mobile phone and call 999. We will attend as soon as we can and deal with their suspicions.

“We want to reassure people that this is not likely to happen to them.

in the end we’re just animals, some of us can resist our basic primate instincts, sum (IMO most) cant

we all knew the bad kids at school – not the naughty ones, i was naughty got in a few fights smoked a bit of weed – but the ones who are mentalists, that have constant supervision, always in trouble dont change they remain stupid & voilent as it is what they lernt works best at school

when there 6ft tall pissed up an short of chash they know how to get money, an we all know its a rush to be in a fight (espically to win) you feel good after it (thats the adrenilin), so they have no regrets and feel better than they did before ruining someones life

but at least you can be happy in the knowledge that they were beaten and arse raped by their dads/uncles/carers and had the most unhappy childhood – as if thats justice

ipswich has always been a violent place tho, used to be wars between the mods & rockers, an punks & goths back in my old mans day – its just then unprovoked aspect thats really scary

this is true – but these subculture wars happened everywhere (now its chavs vs goths).

OTOH the level of random violence has definitely escalated countrywide.

raverbaby (who is just over half my age) has also noticed people are getting angrier and more violent (I was worried it was just me getting old).

The worst part of it is it puts young(ish) men like us into a “siege mentality” where you are always looking over your shoulder and wary to talk to any strangers/new people, even if supposedly “safe” areas like raves.

another update: around 19:30 I’m riding home from work and pass a local nightclub. This place has barely been open for half an hour; and there is a riot van outside, a panda car and cops/bouncers in the street milling about as if a fight has broken out, been stopped and cops are deciding who to nick.

I know its “summer of zero tolerance” and that nightclub fights are hardly rare occurences; but to see the aftermath of a fight that early leads me to think that people are actually fighting whilst relatively sober – there has to be a lot of hate and anger around for something like this to happen..
