Anybody have any experience of writing personal statements for things like UCAS?

I’m entirely clueless as to what I should be putting on there, how to structure it etc.

It’s for a BA Hons in Youth Work and Community Development.

Any help muchos appreciated.

No idea, mate.

Try asking at The Student Room: Student Guides, Help, Advice & Community there always seems to be someone who can help there.

I can’t even remember what I put it in mine, but I think it’s mainly just what have you done in the past that would help with the course, and why you want to do the course and why you’ll stick it out. Just makes sure all the grammar and spelling are oreyt and you should be fine 🙂

There are loads of sites now to help you with this kind of thing. Sadly it was so long ago for me I had forgotten I even had to write a personal statement, never mind what it actually said.

This site has a guide to writing them as well as some samples to read. I think there are online sites which will work with you to get it right, for a cost obviously, if you’re really struggling.

I’m at uni and there is no way they could have even read my personal statement. It basically said I have spent the last two years doing nothing but I like Roman stuff.

If you want a hand though send me a message and I’ll see what I can do.

I’m at one of the top twenty-five unis in the world and I had to hide the fact that I got expelled from school and spent two years putting on raves and getting caned before I even applied.

cheers for the offers of help everyone, i’ve got it sorted now though. think it’s pretty good, my bro just finished 3 years at manchester n reckoned it was good.

i’d put it up but they check the internet to see if you’ve copied it and it might lead em to think i copied it off here

shit yeah that really wouldn’t be good

my posts are a mix of dead baby jokes, posts about drug use and posts about illegal activities.

hmmm… maybe i should hold what i say, or at least change my username, i mean it is my second name!
