So i’m well up for going to one of those Spiritualism churches to hear them thinking they’re connecting to spirits and seeing peoples futures for the sheer hilarity of it!!
Anyone ever been, you reckon it could be a pretty comedy outing for someone who wants to witness crazy people and possibly charlatans at work?
Trying to think of some out of the box ideas for things to do to spice up my life raaa
October 24, 2011 at 10:52 am #1245849i know people who have had messages that could not be faked they have been told things only they knew etc . now yes the people doing it on tv etc use actors and shit but i have heard some of to messages friends have had and they have been so specific they must really contact somethink

do you not think that it might be that you just cant see how it was done? would be rather more likely

I’ve had friends claim this too, the shit on TV is obviously fake tho.

you’d think that the gifted people would be doing it on tv really wouldn’t you… i wonder why they don’t?
think as gifted as you get is Derren Brown and he doesn’t claim supernatural powers.
October 24, 2011 at 3:38 pm #1245850ok one example a older friend was told by the psychic that the person contacting said about her feeding he horse polo’s 30 years ago if you can tell me how they knew that i will give you a medal .
there is a small church that does it not a big tv thing or nothink thats just to make money these people dont charge and no you cant guarantee a message cos there is a crowd of 50 people my gf has been many times but not had a message yet her dad died last xmas on our 10 year anniversary she just wants closure
October 24, 2011 at 3:46 pm #1245840If you wish to believe people can tap into spirits that’s fair enough. Until the day something convinces me I just do not buy it and would find it funny to watch.

There are so many different methods that could be employed in order to make someone believe what they are being told could only be revealed by a psychic it would take a while to explain them all (and I am no expert.)
How many psychics operate without creating the impression that there telling you something that only a psychic could have known…

so spiritual people just know important information like you fed a horse 30 years ago?!
October 24, 2011 at 4:26 pm #1245851my point was that was her dead nan saying she remembers when my friend was a child and would feed the horse polos i just cannot figure out how it would be possible to be that specific . i know to every 1 that could do it if possible there is 10000 fakes i know i never had nothink but i would say impossible thats all poly you know what town im from near mad hippy i can send you the details if you want to go just because you said you wanna see whats what
October 24, 2011 at 4:41 pm #1245842you say you think it’s impossible but how did they claim to get this info, see into the past or speak to a horse spirit?
just don’t get what’s so special about a piece of info like that.
October 25, 2011 at 1:03 pm #1245854Check out the series The Dead Files.
It’s just started and is up to about eppie 5 or so.
Basically this psycic chick goes in and sees whats what. At the same time a real detective goes and finds out about the house and its history etc. BUT they do not contact each other until they have a joint meeting with the people who called them in to find out what the hell is going on in their house. The things she says she sees and feels and then the things he finds out as fact from previous tenants and official documents is really uncanny.
Am liking this series! If I was in London I would go with ya. Just for entertainment as I reckon these types of things are just that. Entertainment.
However, I had my cards read twice in London by the same dude 5 years apart. The first reading he gave me was talking about stuff that would happen like 3-4 years away and it all came true. He was spot on with everything that he could not have possibly known. The second reading was even more detailed and was so on the mark that it freaked me out a little.
He was not around on my last visit. I don’t even know if he is… I would love a third reading from him!October 25, 2011 at 1:15 pm #1245831Anonymous@kiwifruit 455127 wrote:

psychics use similar resources to detectives to come up with the information a lot of the time. Think it was Darren Brown who planted a false history over the internet and false photographs in the building etc then invited in some “psychics” to see what they could feel. I think you can guess what happened.
October 25, 2011 at 1:17 pm #1245843also the derren brown thing where they give 30 people a piece of paper describing their personality and everyone goes, this is so much like me!! then they get told to swap the papers and everyone has the same one.

ah yes I remember that! done a similar thing myself in the past with people who believe in astrology. Amazing how people will ignore all the evidence that contradicts their own viewpoint, especially if its part of their identity.

30 years ago polo mints were very heavily advertised on kids TV, and there wasn’t half as much political correctness about eating habits of small children or equines. Lots of kids would have done this.
Whilst today a young girl would be equally likely to want to share her food with a friendly horse, it would more likely be some kind of right on mueseli bar or healthy fruit and veg left over from her lunchbox which she doesn’t want to eat herself because she’s para about putting on too much weight, but doesn’t want to get quizzed by her parents for not eating it.
However round here horse owners also put up polite signs discouraging random kids from feeding horses – as the horse becomes overweight and they get told off by the vet!

I should add she has someone go in to “clean” the house before she goes in. That is, remove all photos and anything that would influence her…
Check out eppie 1. It’s a goodie.
You can watch all the parts on utube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isoC7-01YpQOctober 25, 2011 at 2:44 pm #1245844so how come the tv psychics are all considered fake money makers but the little people sitting in a church no one knows are like super psychic gods who guessed (or talked to a spirit w/e) something right once or twice. funny how the big mainstream names get shown to be fakes cos they’re in the public eye…
is there any big names which are real psychics then guys? sounds like a load of jibber jabber to me.

apparently there’s no such thing as the tooth fairy either. Come on people, its 2012 and you are still believing in psychics? it is worrying it really is.

ironically for the same reason little girls are encouraged to share more healthier food with horses – Attitudes change over the years and people become more tolerant but more aware.
A few centuries ago folk like “phsycics” or anyone into the occult or non mainstream media would be lit on fire in the town square and even in my living memory they did not get given a platform on the mainstream media. (they had stopped burning them though, its not smokeless fuel!)
Now anythings tolerated especially if its classed as “entertaintment” rather than genuine faith group displays, and even faith groups cross over (such as the well funded and tolerated Christian music scene). The mainstream view is that most people don’t believe in this stuff as much as they once used to and as society is more secular and even organised faith becoming a lot more “street level” the man or woman on the street believes less in this kind of stuff.
I was half tempted to attend a New Age gathering in Stowmarket this weekend just gone but would not have been able to take the opening ceremonies etc seriously (for this reason I was never much good as a Catholic either) and as at least some good friends would be there I didn’t want to offend people. (process might have enjoyed it though :laugh_at:)
October 25, 2011 at 3:35 pm #1245847yeah i heard about the law in the spiritualism churches saying they cannot market it as psychic and have to use entertainment instead.

yes and they get tolerated as this because they provide work for middle class theatre luvvie types (when this is thin on the ground) and make money off the mainstream but more credulous working classes whlst not encouraging noise/hedonism (you don’t get for instance someones son who OD’d sending a message back from the afterlife that we should all party in his memory)… a bit like old style faith groups used to do when they had more power (to be fair they are now doing more useful stuff).
I am not even completely sceptical/cynical about the wider concepts of spiritualism (hence why I was even considering going to the new age meeting) but have little time for these sorts of displays..
