…Left my mates and got in a taxi and some how started talking about every murder that the guy knew about as we passed where they had happened. Then about the guy who was mardered at the bus stop where I got out.

Than some fucking radge staffy tried to set about me and its useless chav owner rants about how he only lets it off the lead when its late at night as its a “fucking killer”.

Now I have uni in 7 hours and I can’t be arsed sleeping just stuck writing some big storey about a rat kingdom.

do you mean a “rat king”, a (disputed) zoological phenomenon whereby a number of rats get intertwined by their tails which get knotted together and have to all move along as one group, or just a load of rats with one what is appointed as king?

Nah I’ve been writing a story for the last 6 months or so its getting ridiculous. I don’t normally write anything longer than a few thousand words but this is about 80 pages long so far and I’m still nowhere near half way through.

The general plan is based on an idea I wrote for an animation a friend was working on and is basically Animal Farm meets Redwall but in my own annoyingly erratic fashion.

    its a disputed theory.

Some (mostly the cryptozoologists and tinfoil helmet types) claim it can happen, but most other zoologists claim its impossible, and that found preserved specimens are the work of such people as bored rat catchers with access to a large quantity of dead rodents and slightly warped minds.

Both go with the job; the sorts of poisons used especially in the middle ages onwards are full of heavy metals which when ingested cause mental problems over a chronic period.

I would suspect that rats are way too smart to get their tails knotted together in such a fashion in the wild, and if they did would sacrifice the tip of their tail (they can survive with a shorter one) rather than be caught up in such a manner.

preserved rat kings tend to also be of Rattus rattus, the “roof rat” or “ship rat” which has been mostly displaced by the Norway/Brown Rat Rattus norvegicus.

Maybe these ones are less smart (although they are more common still in hotter countries and you don’t hear of many rat kings there) – I still suspect generations of rat catchers playing tricks as they were paid per rat, and waving a big bundle of dead rats at people was a good sales tactic to show the rat catcher was needed…

yep thats the same theory, but rats are normally clean and intelligent enough to treat one area away from the nest as a toilet in the same way we don’t normally piss in the corner of our bedroom….

at work there are often rats in the loft (and the little sods are gnawing the already sketchy Openreach wiring for the telephones :crazy_diz) and they only shit and piss in one corner of the loft…
