imo your only your own perseption of your self infront of other ppl … depending on ego … i meen if you are very egotistical then you are compleatly makeing the person belive that that is you (the you that you would like to think you are)… where as if your the other extreme very un-egotistical then your will portray your self diferantly …. regardless to who you realy are… what im trying to say i think is that even if you want to be you compleat self infront of some one you can only give across as much as you alow ..eg. if you with drawn then you wont give any thing away .. and if your out going then you will give everything away … but i have been through both fazes several times in my life and the persona i make out to be with ppl even very close ppl seems to not be my exact stream of thoughts … there for i guess im not being my self … i once saw a graff sketch that had a gas masked dude and the thought bubble “the only true free space i have is the few cm2 inside my head” and that rang true for me….

Some people like to be considered an idiot, calling yourself DAFT, is only one example…you can’t be taking seriously, what you say is DAFT…Is that being yourself???

If so, then your are DAFT, stick to un-complicated matters, such as improving your spelling…It’s like reading the mutterings of a three year old…

When it comes to human personality, we can very rarely be ourselves!
We always act different, depending on who we are dealing with at that particular time…

Our personalities’ consist of many layers. To be totally ‘yourself’ we must discard the layers that hide ourselves (the true self) from others…

It is an in-built trait of human nature…only when we can be truthfully honest, can we be free of the constraints of self suppression…

It is basic psycholgy, and that is what Buddism is all about!…

Most people pretend to be something different, always wanting to impress others’…but it is also what tends to be their downfall…as pretentious people can rarely keep-up with what they pretend to be…eventually, others’ see through them…

To be yourself, means having to know thy self…

yeah i get like that with ppl … if i feel at all nevouse around some one i wont be my self and i’ll hold back a bit.. but then if i sence some one is a bit nervouse with me then i’ll go the other way to try and compensate .. eg. talk more or tone down what i would normaly say so as not to make them feel uneasy .. unless i knew they would take it lightly at all times i would be trying to be my self does the term “being your self” alow for change or do you have to stay at a constant to acheave this

I’m nearly always myself depending what state i’m in:wink: but on meeting certain new people i will sometimes take a step back and scope them out. Don’t know why but i’ve always done this and know quite alot about the body language of an individual and how best to approach them

In my job i meet new people everyday so it’s very easy for me to get on with just about anyone!
I like to think that i’m safe as fuck and that is my real attitude if you like when i’m with people!

Think I disagree with that. It’s like this: humans are social animals. We get part of our personalities from other people and when we’re with other people we take on part of their personalities. The only way to ‘be yourself’ 100 percent is to seal yourself in an airtight social bubble. And who wants to do that? Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice sometimes, but what kind of a life is that..?

    Just a thought.
