Oh I agree, good idea but realisticly I wouldn’t expect someone to hire the soundsystem again if I made their dj’s use a mixer with no eq.October 24, 2006 at 7:33 pm #1092763
I dont hire my rig anymore Bio
I got fed up of trying to get more than £5 an hour for it :you_crazy:you_crazy:you_crazy – i wont even pack it for that kind of money [esp as it usually comes with live band work which is a total pain in the nuts WRT sound checks and getting the musicians to do one]
Down here they all think they can do the sound engineers job better themselves and dont see why they should pay to hire a half decent rig when they can link up their guitar amps and that does the same job dunnit? :you_crazy:you_crazy:you_crazyOctober 24, 2006 at 7:35 pm #1092764
the bandridge is kept for when my rig is out and playing dance music and the dj cant be trusted to not fiddle excessively with the eqs – if they were paying to hire my rig it might be a little different 😉October 24, 2006 at 7:37 pm #1092737Raj wrote:I dont hire my rig anymore Bio
Ahh I see. 😉Quote:Down here they all think they can do the sound engineers job better themselves
Didn’t you know that if you play an instrument or mix records then you are automatically a fully qualified and experienced sound engineer?October 24, 2006 at 7:40 pm #1092765BioTech wrote:Didn’t you know that if you play an instrument or mix records then you are automatically a fully qualified and experienced sound engineer?
:laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at: they certainly think so…until it goes wrong and then they expect me to fix it :laugh_at::laugh_at:without actually doing any of the stuff i consider essential of course like sound checks, stereo image adjustment, etc etc etc
used to do my head in – nowadays i keep my rig for dance music :bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_flOctober 24, 2006 at 9:52 pm #1092743Raj wrote:we have an old dinasour called a bandridge – that one is as tough as old boots too [have never seen another or found anyone who had one]
still going 12 years on raaaraaaraaaraaa but we use a djm600 these days [unless the dj has annoyed me ]
Thought yours was a 500 Raj???
I’ll get some pics of ma gear up soon.. still need to set it all up.. got the electric piano being picked up from the parentals place this weekend.. woohoo.. raaaraaaOctober 24, 2006 at 10:01 pm #1092766
could well be a 500 – it the mostly bombproof one and i never see it unless i am using it and then only the flashing green [not red!] lights
and thats when i can see it :groucho:October 24, 2006 at 10:02 pm #1092744
:laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at:Yeah urs is defo the 500 the one that weighs more and is more robust 😉October 24, 2006 at 10:08 pm #1092767
goes to show how much attention i was paying to it :laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at:
its mostly wasted on me anyway – dont use the eqs, rarely use the effects, etc etc but i do like the xlr outputs
/me slavers over balanced line outputs :laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at:October 24, 2006 at 10:21 pm #1092745
Yup i know thats why i got this off a mate.. http://www.allen-heath.com/UK/xone464.asp
It needs some TLC its had a bit of a hard life but i’ll restore it to its former glory.. gonna be great for all the live gear… he wanted it out the way coz he kept trippin over it.. haha.. so gave it away to someone who would love it more than him.. coz he’s got some dodgy digital mixer now…October 25, 2006 at 10:21 am #1092774
I picked up a prophet5 and a sequencer last night,Dont know what the F**k I will do with them,Reckon I will give them to Mrs GD as an early crimbo pressy (on account of her being able to actually play the thing):laugh_at::laugh_at:October 25, 2006 at 12:31 pm #1092768
