With a nod to my earlier rather miserable post about fence jumpers what are you opinions? Personally im against it cause if you want to see a massive line up in a beatifull location in safe(ish) surroundings that has taken a year of peoples lives to sort out then why shouldn’t you pay for it when others sacrafice loads to pay for your fun. So is it okay if you have no money or miss out on tickets, (or does that just make you an unorganised tighfisted thieving wanker?!). Or should you just buy a ticket like everyone else (seeing as tickets for Glade didnt sell out till quite late this year). I am mainly talking about the smaller more specific festies ie glade, bloom, shambala etc rather than the corporate bullshit that is anything to do with Mean fiddler. Opinions anyone?p.s Apologies if you’ve already read this on another forum…

If I really want to go to something, I’ll always try and get a ticket. But, equally, it just bugs me when things sell out and stuff, especially if I just miss out, so, in that case, yeah, I will jump a fence. But, as in that previous thread, I only suggested fence-jumping, purely because I ALWAYS miss out on things. I’m cursed, honestly…
C’mon… You’d fence-jump at Glasto (if it was still possible) wouldn’t you..? I know you would…

ive only admitadly been to glasto once, and it was alright, but a bit of a mission. fuck the added mission of trying to get into the fucker. It seems to be all about the money and theres not enough of the acts i want to see personally, Glades right up my street and thats why i respect them enought to want to pay for it. Anything to screw mean fiddler is fine by me tho, but i would scale a fence to get out of V or any of those other shite corporate festivals. Sorry indie/rock/pop crap really isnt my 1st love choice. Each to there own tho. I def wouldnt pay to go to v and would jump the fence if i was forced to…

if your mates set up a shop and you can’t afford what is in there, would you go an rob the place? I suspect most people here wouldn’t, and particularly with something like Eastern Haze a lot of local people are involved in contributing to the event.

if i can afford it and really want to go, i.e glade i’d definately pay. also like the fact that i wouldnt have to be constantly aware of security etc. wouldnt be able to fully relax. other more commercialised events i wouldnt feel that bad if i jumped the fence. same as some peopel think its alright to rob from tescos but not from there local shop. not that i do that like.

People of low income and people on benefits have become priced out of most large festivals, fair game I say. I couldn’t afford to go to anything half decent this year.

Go to smaller festivals then or save up money if you wanna go to the big one’s. Im only on ยฃ6.5ph, but still managing to go to glade and bloom. I know its shit but you’ve gotta make sacrifice’s. Also its not everyones right to be able to go to festivals. If you cant afford it dont go. Festivals take huge amounts of effort, money and hassle to set up much more than free parties…

there’s no such thing as a free lunch, and if you jump a fence there are certain disadvantages to your festival experience versus the paying punter.

personally i’d always pay up, not least because i don’t travel particularly light, like to plan ahead, and would be pretty fucked off if i travelled 00s of miles to get turned away…

although i suppose that this year is an example of paying in advance is no guarantee to a reliably good time
