…sad… note how daily mail uses the term ‘white british,’… not ‘british’ :rolleyes: … nazi’s… i was in the petrol garage and only noticed cos some old boy was moaning on at someone. i kinda wished it was me, i won’t bother to say what i may or may not have said, but it may have involved the word ‘dinosaur’
i was pleasantly surprised at least to see a brief moment of open-mindedness at the end of the sun article, but the most of it is just rant and they probably know their readers won’t get to the end of the article to read it
December 12, 2012 at 5:11 pm #1263783its a skewed use of a legit ethnic classification – the term “White British” is perfectly acceptable to use when gathering statistics, and for folk to identify themselves, similarly to “British Asian” (which I had to put down on a form for the community radio station as they have to prove their diversity. Actually it was “British Asian Other” as my ancestry is neither from South Asia (IN/PK/BD) nor Chinese but mixed Indian/Chinese from Malaysia (which hardly anyone ever knew about until about 10 years ago because lots of computer parts are made there and there are always nature programmes on telly about the place).
The problem here is to stop the hard right claiming in any form that those folk born in the UK but from a different ancestry are not British – especially as traditional White British people come from a great variety of Germanic tribes who themselves migrated across Northern Europe in previous years…

I read an article on the BBC & Independent (I think it was the independent anyway. I like to read newspapers/ the bbc at college lol) and they were actually relatively fair.

Only paper I buy is the South Wales Echo, local papers reporting stuff close to home have to be more honest because many of the readers have first hand knowledge of what they report on.
