thought this would be an interesting one, so let us know your experiences of the paranormal. Mine was staying at an old holiday cottage in portland that had a burnt out house next to it. The previous resident of this old house nextdoor had been an elderly lady, so anyway im not sure if she had died in the fire or wat, but me and a m8 awoke in the night to the noise of old 1950’s style music playing through the wall and shuffling noises. Really wierd, but i have never seen a ghost before!:surprised

June 6, 2006 at 1:59 pm #1078072not seen a ghost but about 12 years ago something very strange happened when me and my mates were trying to set up this pirate radio station.
Now the 3 of us present were all techies/hackers; we knew our stuff and how to make things work.
Before we set out we tested all the equipment; there was the band II transmitter (the FM TX), the midpoint link transmitter (operates at 68Mhz) and for on site comms we had brought along both mobile phones (900Mhz) and 27Mhz CB radios (mobiles weren’t that reliable and expensive to use).
All this equipment had worked at another location but we wanted somewhere higher up to get a better signal.
We found this place which was a disused mental hospital (I had previously explored it in high school days about 6 years before that – it was scarey then as it wasn’t entirely disused – there were still people there! (I got the impression the health authority used to section travellers and hippies who took too much drugs and then just dumped them there).
There were always rumours the place was haunted, and fairly often really dark stuff goes on “behind closed doors” in mental health institutes.
Anyway, the next time we went there the place was empty (the remaining patients had been shifted to another nearby place).
I checked the site for live electric – 230v at all sockets to courtyard.
We plugged in the transmitter and tried to tune it in on a portable radio.
Nothing (despite power reaching it).Then tried to contact other people waiting in a car by the gatehouse using both the mobile and the CB radio; no response despite both devices having charged batteries and showing the signal strength being OK…
Communications across the entire electromagnetic spectrum from 27Mhz to 900Mhz totally wiped out by some strange “force”. None of us had ever seen anything like it before. To this day still can’t explain it as there was perfect line of sight and no other masts or towers that could have caused interference.
Needless to say we got out of that location pretty quickly and have never used it again.
June 6, 2006 at 2:32 pm #1078074Yes I have, I was sat with my mrs at the time on Southampton Common, 5am/6am in the morning on a wintery sunday morning, a thick blanket of fog covering the common floor.
I looked across and saw this old women and laughed nervously as to say “what the fuck is she doing wandering around here at this time”, my mrs saw the old women and agreed with me.
The old women then went down into this trench and up the other side towards the lake, I turned around 5 secs later and she had gone, but there was no where else she could have gone.
What was weird was the way in which she walked down this trench – she looked old, 70’s and not too steady on her feet, but she didn’t stumble down into the trench, it was almost as though she was gliding down one side and up the other side – with that she was gone.
It took a few minutes for it to set in, then when we thought what we’d just seen, we couldn’t believe it outselves.
Never the less – no one believed us, despite the fact that we had both seen this happen.
Actually walked up to the lake – there was no sign of a women or anywhere she could have walked too.

stereo with push buttons came on by itself and then went off, heard someone in the next room, that sort of thing
also have seen them in other places and then told the owners of the building who have said ‘oh yes, we know about that one…blah blah etc’:horay::horay::horay:

Yeh that was the same with us, couldnt figure out wat the fuk was going on till we rang the owners the next day and they then explained. I find it quite strange that the house i live in is about 300 years old and yet i have never felt any sort of presence or seen anything.
