i really like the winter here 😀 i’d rather avoid the summer, me and heat/sun generally don’t get on when i have to go about doing normal things. but if i wanted to avoid winter, i’d head off to the caribbean because it’s my absolute FAVOURITE place to go, it’s gorgeous. i also loved the deserted parts of the rocky mountains in the US and canoeing down the green river and camping on beaches (just the 6 of us, nobody else around and you can see so many stars because it’s ages away from a city), it was so peaceful and you feel more in touch with the earth 🙂

depends – would you need to earn a living too? or would you have savings to live off for the winter months?

When I went skiing there were loads of brits working in the bars or as ‘chamber maid’ type roles – and gave them the opportunity of skiing and partying during free time, which sounded cool

mmm, I like portugal but not sure if they have winter like us over there…. what about maritius? never been but think thats hot – looks lush from what I’ve heard and photos I’ve seen

Antigua is really good, I’ve been during the winter a couple of years ago it was great Dubai also and this year I’m going back to Antigua this summer cant wait, but I heard that places like Greece and other countries around that area is ok to.
            Good luck with your search.

10 degrees sounds perfect. i don’t mind hotter weather but only if i can sit around and do nothing all day. as soon as i have to get up and walk places and concentrate on stuff it makes my head all funny. is norway anywhere near sweden?

exactly the same for me , i have been working in sicily a few years ago .. in august … in a kitchen ( up to 55 – 60 ° ) that has been quite a crash test for me :argh: yes norway is right beside sweden but my place is on top of the whole thing near to the finnish and russian borders too

hell yeah , they are way too long for me -_________________- ok is very picturesque – and i love drifting on snow and ice haha – but that’s one of the reasons why i’m planning to move again

EDIT but in southern Norway is much different , even colder winter compared with up here , but way shorter and never dark 24/24

I went to Mauritius around 6-7 years ago and was very disappointed. You have to stay in your resort as further down around the island you cant get to anywhere that you can eat out for example. Only HALF the island has lovely beaches, the rest is rocky with fishing boats.

We spent a lot to get there thinking it was the ultimate getaway, but actually it was probably the worst holiday we had ever been on.
If you want sandy tropical beaches without being ripped off for every single penny I recommend cuba or fiji 🙂

                                      I hear ya!
At the moment though its the other problem… no darkness. I am so fed up of waking up at 1.30 or 3am that I have become a walking zombie. A bit cranky too.
We average -15 for 6 months of the year. Our first snow was at the start of october and the last snow was the first week of may for our last winter.
The coldest it gets here is -30ish for a wee bit. When your breath freezes instantly up your nose and the water in your eyes stings as its freezing, you know you cant stay out too long!
One thing I love though is that the cars have the warmer upper thingie that switches on so your car is defrosted and toasty and also the seat warmers… ahhh love a warm bottom in the middle of winter.

But for how much snow and ice there is, it next to never rains in winter. I hate the rain so would rather have the snow any day for winter weather.

Where are you planning on moving to? Can you work wherever you want in the EU?
Do you pick up any local lingo when you are staying in all these places? 🙂
