Hello everybody,
I can officially annouce that it is true that ID Spiral will not be attending the Waveform Project as planned. Their official statement is contained below:
IDSpiral Waveform Announcement – IMPORTANT
Dear friends of IDSpiral and the Waveform festival
Finally the summer might be turning a dryer and friendlier eye on us festival lovers and with that the doors are open towards a fantastic Waveform Experience
However, we are sad to announce that we have decided to not go ahead with our planned participation in the event.
As you are aware we are by now running a rather sizable setup and thrive on creating diverse and immersive spaces. For this to work energetically we do need a lot of support from you – half empty chill spaces are just too chilled even for our liking. As the Waveform festival has now slimmed down considerably – and very wisely – after the difficulties that other festivals were facing over the summer, we simply don’t feel that we can live up to your and our expectations anymore. Thus we have decided to focus our energy on events where we can pull all the stops – like next year’s Sunrise Gathering.
it is also fair to say that we are still recovering after two extremely muddy festival experiences just past us – Glastonbury and Glade – and thus appreciate some time outWe apologize if you feel disappointed – believe us we are as well.
but you can surely catch us in good spirits somewhere else soonand we look forward to a successful Waveform experience for everyone involved!
With love
IDSpiral
Unfortunately, it has come to pass that, with the size of the event downscaling to a maximum 3500 capacity, and with the toll on resources that ID Spiral have had to suffer from Glade and Glastonbury, the price and energy involved in making the ID Spiral space happen at Waveform was not to the benefit of either party.
The Sunrise Celebrations have lost money two years running, and, to be honest, we cannot afford the same situation with Waveform, and some decisions have had to be made to allow the possibility of future Sunrise Celebrations and Waveforms.
The GOOD NEWS is that most of the chill line-up (Particularly the headliners) will be remaining exactly as it is, including a number of ID Spiral residents. In replacement for IDS, the Waveform Project will be hosting the Gaia Chill, with The Chai Emporium annd featuring artists from Interchill Records, Peak Records and others.
A full line-up will follow early next week.
It is also true that advanced sales have not matched our expectations, partially of course due to the turbulent year it has been for festival-goers in the UK. On the other hand, they are picking up fast and we have secured some investment to ensure the event will go ahead with a full line-up as planned.
We ask that ticket-buyers and those preparing to go keep faith with the process and trust that the Waveform Project will be the amazing event it is planned to be.
Yours,
The Waveform Team
