Considering the restaurant cashed in on this bun and caused Mother Theresa to have to spend money and time with lawyers (in her final years) stopping them rinsing money from this false icon I don’t feel a lot of sympathy towards them.
I hope whoever has it smashes it to pieces – and (if its not rotten) throws the crumbs out to the local birds – I’m sure Mother Theresa would think it was the best thing to do with it…Quote:Christmas thief steals ‘Nun Bun’
A cinnamon bun that bears a striking likeness to late Catholic nun Mother Teresa was stolen from a US coffeehouse on Christmas Day. The owner arrived to find that the famous flaky pastry had vanished from the shop in Nashville, Tennessee.
Bob Bernstein said he thought the culprit was angry over the display.
The “Nun Bun” has drawn tourists since it was preserved and put in a glass case at the shop, where it was discovered by a customer in 1996.
The bun became international news following the find in the folds of its pastry.The Bongo Java coffee shop sold T-shirts, prayer cards and mugs with the bun’s image until Mother Teresa wrote a letter asking the sales be stopped, before her death in 1997.
Mr Bernstein said the thief “went right for the bun”, ignoring cash lying nearby.

if it wasn’t for the vows of celibacy, abstinance and daft uniforms I’d apply to the Vatican to become an “official Devourer of False Icons” – I could then justify threatening fat Americans (and anyone else who cooks false icons in pastry) with advanced weaponry. blowing up their cars, and stealing their ample stocks of food [1], and all in the Name Of God…
[1] I’d give what I didn’t eat to colonies of starving Africans in Cirencester of course, in order to remain reasonably Politically Correct

I think Glowballon’s onto something here,. What’s the betting the bun will appear on ebay sometime soon.
I can’t say I feel sorry for the cafe owner although he milked an image of Mother Teresa. Who I really feel sorry for is the mentality of these people who travel God knows how many miles to see a stupid piece of pastry. Selling t-shirts is one thing but people BUYING them?? That’s why I’m glad it’s been taken, so these thick people can get on with their lives!
