Cycling home around 17:30 yesterday evening, I noticed a chap on a high-end racing bike scream abuse at a young female pedestrian to get her out of the way…. I was the other end of a 100m bridge coming up in the opposite direction and heard his shout.

had she not taken evasive action (and she had right of way) I reckon he would have slapped her or worse.

Worse still, there was no need for it, he merely needed to slow down a mere 2-3 mph and both of them could have got through

thought the incident was quite shocking TBH – I nearly even considered calling 999 (the first time I would ever have done so in my life to report anybody for a crime) but he was way too fast, by the time the comms room operator answered he would easily be out of CCTV range (I reckon he also realised that)

this was no teenage chav in a hoody on a cheapo mountain bike either, he was a grown man in his 20s-40s wearing sporty gear and helmet and on a machine that would have cost anything from £400 to a grand or more.

I suspect he was training and angry the woman had got in the way of his clear run; but FFS he was in the middle of the city. Just 5 miles either way he could have almost had the road to himself…. he has no right to dictate others’ use of the roads, I wonder what other controlling behaviour he is involved in?

just shows what the desire to win at any costs must do to people..
