      the protest arose as they use a Canadian bear in their act which protestors allege is not being kept in appropriate conditions. I personally don’t really see why you need circus animals in this day and age – IMO if you must capture non-native species merely for scientific curiosity (and maybe for captive breeding programmes) modern zoos / safari parks can look after them far better.

      Caps said the protest against the use of performing animals in circuses had been peaceful.
      Jolly’s show is known for featuring Ming, Britain’s only circus bear.

        ‘…sure officer, I can describe the person who attacked me. He was tall, wore big baggy trousers with yellow spots, purple braces, had size 20 feet, had a very pale complection except for his big red round hooter. He escaped in his car but not before its doors fell off,,,’

            apparently though its classed as “professional misconduct” amongst clowns if you do this sort of stuff whilst in make-up? (unless fighting hippies is classed as part of the act nowadays – maybe they are trying to make the circus more attractive to modern kids).
