The fire service said the roof had collapsed and specialist teams with cutting gear were at the scene to make the factory safe.
More than 40 firefighters from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to deal with the explosion.

bloody hell! I had no idea that the manufacture of pies was fraught with such danger..

At 0508hrs, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue were mobilised to a gas explosion at Andrew Jones Pies, Old Leeds Road, Huddersfield.

On arrival there was a fire and roof collapse within the building.

There are 7 casualties: 5 were led to safety and 2 were placed in the care of paramedics.

West Yorkshire Urban Search and Rescue teams are in attendance with specialist equipment including cutting gear, cameras and heavy lifting equipment to make the building safe.

Appliances from Huddersfield, Halifax, Cleckheaton, Dewsbury, Elland, Urban Search & Rescue and Major Rescue Unit from Cleckheaton are in attendance.

only in Britain do we foil a terrorist bomb attempt; and then let men get blown up making a staple food item. Seriously though it is fucking atrocious this sort of thing happens in the 21st century – this isn’t the coalface FFS , men shouldn’t have to lose their lives so others can stuff their faces..

if you look on the news site there is a fireman on there – he looks like a big strong chap what has saved loads of people and dealt with all manner of serious incidents, but looks like he is nearly about to cry as if its the worst disaster to hit the North in years….

lol – the thing that came to my mind was – on cartoons – exploding pies in the face!

its quite horrific really but i cant help but laugh that it was a exploding pie factory!
