Right i have got to moan, I went to my local last night for a couple of pints……. They have put the prices up again, i know the budget causes this but i think my local are beginning to take the piss with the pricing.

The prices of beer are now stupid, i can go and drink in Oxford cetner and drink beer cheaper than my village local! If i was planning to drink 5/6 pints the price difference would pay my bus fare to and from town which is nearly a £5.

      Ok so local village pub:

      Fosters £2.85
      Carling £2.95
      Stella £3.40

But then i could drink IPA, Original or another bitter for £2.30 :you_crazy

Its fookin madness i tell you, how much is a pint in your local???

a pint is about £2.70 to £3.00 in most places I have been to in East Anglia (admittedly not many).

I suspect village pubs are putting the prices up partly because due to traffic cops being a bit more robust about testing suspected drink drivers so they have a “captive” set of customers….

or (given the big price difference between lager and bitter) they are subtly trying to cherry pick their customers and edge out the “younger” lot.

Like GoodDog said, perhaps the off-license is the way to go these days….

I think a lot of it is due to costs of stuff like CCTV (part of the licensing conditions) and Pubsafe (electronic sniffer dogs aren’t free), if a pub refuses these things they get marked as “possibly linked with crime” and the landlord gets feds constantly on his back..
