Wish I was a PV subscriber, want to read a post that’s been moved there. But I cant really afford to subscribe. 🙁

December 31, 2009 at 12:32 am #1221493tbh 1984 as an ex reading person i read the thread but had to go outside for info on what actually happened. i gather it was discussed on sj and couple of pv-ers gave accounts but the hard line police behaviour is actually detailed on getreading. Check out the comments:

TBH the only reason we moved the thread there was for security as all journalism about that incident is now “sub judice” (i.e all info about it that surfaces is a matter for a Court) and we simply do not have the legal resources like a mainstream news paper does to vet the posts so they do not prejudice Court Cases.
Those newspaper reports also confirm that the safety of Reading’s mainstream nightlife has dropped, as whilst drink spikings and sexual assaults were a problem a decade ago what the young girl implies is that the situation is worse or there has been no improvement. I am also aware that there have been a number of other outbreaks of serious violence in the Reading area recently.
That said I don’t think TVP are sitting back and doing nothing about the mainstream nightlife either, but they are planning on doing things their way – in a few years time the youth may have a return to 1970s/1980s licensing hours and stop check régimes to look forward to….
