can we lock the threads about religion that just seem to be going round and round in circles and causing arguments between members and not actually going anywhere. they just dont seem to be adding anything apart from making everyone a bit bitter. Maybe we need to draw a line under it all?
anyone got any thoughts?
November 11, 2008 at 10:37 am #1187002Lock some of them :crazy_diz
November 11, 2008 at 10:38 am #1187007I aint fussed, I stopped reading them about a week ago:wink:

November 11, 2008 at 11:50 am #1186995yes dont read them if they upset you …maybe have just a couple of threads about religion…it is a subject which will always wind someone up…but we are all intitled to our opinion….if it upsets you just dont read it.simple.

“bit twisted to me, and you girls no offence. you see no problem talking about it online as tho’ its some thing you hear everyday,, its your thing but it s not what we are used to hearing, keep it to yourself”
in my opinion it looks like the religion threads are petering out anyway so probably don’t need to be locked…i for one have run out of comments to make!November 11, 2008 at 12:11 pm #1186999IS IT ONLY ME THAT WANTS TO KILL THE HERETICS THEN?! 😉
November 11, 2008 at 12:42 pm #1187008WHEN WILL THE MADNESS END

yes ellie point taken…i stand by that .. but talking about anal is not of importance to the world or each others life.imo…but like was said- if you dont wanna go there dont read it …….so…i dont tap into the anal thread no more…..lol
the religion subject is going to make waves and have different opinions….
November 12, 2008 at 4:28 am #1187004I’ve replied to the majority of em that have pissed me off to voice my opinion and general offense
but I do feel the rule – attack the statement and not the person has been lost abit
and I may be guilty of this too,
but generally I vote to leave em…..November 12, 2008 at 9:44 am #1186994Nothing like a good heated debate.
Leave ’em as they are. People will get bored soon.

everyone is entitled to their own views, but i’m sure that if we all stopped responding COMPLETELY those views would soon find another website to prey on
i call troll, or lunatic. either way, leave it alone, stop poking it and it will leave us alone

I think I was sort of talking to myself here too 😉
usually I’m pretty good at sticking to this rule but when it comes to my rights and others rights as a woman to make choices in /our my life / lives
and barbaric opinions about homosexual relationships etc
they can get to fuck :you_crazy
November 13, 2008 at 2:00 am #1187006leave it all alone.
PV should remain minimally moderated, free speech, free debate, all that.
only blatant bot-spammers etc. need be moderated, and public partyline posts/incriminating shit.
nothing else.
November 13, 2008 at 2:42 am #1186992Yeh people need to learn to moderate themselves.
If people can’t hold their tongues then surely it is them who fuel the flames. Religion is there, its a crock of shit but everyone needs something to believe in.
We tolerate people ranting about U.F.O’s and ghosts…its all the same shit.
November 13, 2008 at 9:44 am #1187000would you hold you tongue and tolerate a member of the bnp on here tho? I am v.toerant of other peoples beliefs when it doesnt hurt or offend other people. As soon as it steps over that line tho i lose all respect for the person/organisation and couldnt really give a shit about holding my tongue. people like amy/bnp/scientology etc put them selves up there on thier soap box, so surely they can not complain when people throw shit at them. I dont mind friendly preaching like the woman in town who smiles and blesses me when i walk past, but people saying im going to hell for whatever reason need to be told where to get off IMO.

I do however think simply calling someone an idiot/bitch etc etc is usually unhelpful. BUT If you decide you cant handle the debate/responses then walk away from the thread – i’m pretty sure no one is going to come after you!

Such as my rant on veganism, I don’t remember telling them they weren’t welcome on an open forum.
If a BNP member came on here I would do what I always do, undermine their beliefs and then attempt to bring them over to our side.

i know what your saying. and i have tried that approach. At the start i tried to reason with amy rationaly, but you cant reason with the unreasonable i think the saying is. After a while i just think fuck it and resort to taking the piss. I know this isnt the best way of going about it, but at least its more amusing. Ill only tolerate the intolerant up to a point.. i know that makes me a bit intolerant, this is just another example of how religion can bring the out the worst in people.

Most of the people got so angry that this place is oozing multiculturalism (where else could some psy-trance hippy ask about a party in Nepal and get a answer within hours :laugh_at:) they simply walked away.
Once chap had previously been asking for party info in SE England, at the time I was far more involved than today, I told him flat out that “well I can find parties but you wouldn’t like them as the crowd and the crew will be full of foreigners! :laugh_at:”
That said, Todays BNP members are told not to start arguments in this manner though but to be more subtle and not even mention their politics. Also they are supposed to be anti-drugs and are advised the only reason to be on a board like this would be to befriend “druggies” (particularly those from minority groups) and then pass on info to feds/vigilantés.
We did have one user with sympathies towards the BNP but he walked away after just a few posts and without mentioning his politics (it was only by following a link in his sig or another post this became apparent).
actually the same goes for religion. It is the British way, people are more subtle.
