<< considers starting an MC battling thread – sort of a never-ending rap …

Well I voted a ‘no’ here, but having read the thread I wouldn’t object to a few idents and/or promos. As long as they were discreet, of course, not slashed over the top of the music at exact 15 minute intervals as some stations do ๐Ÿ™ But I know our DJs wouldn’t do that to their own mixes :-))))

Nowt wrong with a bit of banter and interacting with the chat room either. It makes it even more fun to be part of it as it goes out – since we can’t see you behind the decks as we could at a party raaa . However it’s also a bit distracting when I listen to downloaded sets from a couple of years ago, cos it seems as though some folk used to talk more than they played in those days !! :omg: ๐Ÿ˜‰

Go for it guys. Just be discreet and go with the flow, is all I’d ask :weee:

nah, this usually either happens with some more commercially minded FM pirates for whom money making is a big part of the game (i.e the UK Garage crew), or in legal stations (including some online broadcasters) it comes from a centrally operated computer system that the DJ/s presenters do not have any control over…

AFAIK PV radio does not have such a system in place.

Plus the “smashy and nicey” style of presentation (which ironically some urban/underground dance stations do tend to slip into!) has never been very popular here.

However I got a leaflet with my telephone bill, in which was an advert for a device that looked like a “ghetto blaster/boombox” but picked up internet radio from a WLAN or played MP3s.

At present it was a bit pricey at ยฃ150 but I can see these devices dropping in price. They are clearly intended for times when you wish to the music away from a conventional PC and therefore are unlikely to have access to the chatroom.

I think in the next few months/years it is definitely going to be worth having some form of on-air identity as people start to listen to internet radio through this sort of equipment..

Is there an internet surfing fee for a radio that picks up internet radio?

And why doesn’t it just pick up other stuff if the internet connection with the receiver is free?

I think it would be great to get some proper partyvibe/djshow/lv1 jingles together. Got a couple ideas and I’ll try and get round to something soon ๐Ÿ˜‰ Could they be set to play randomly in between the mp3 streams? :bounce_fl

Yes this is totally possible. You can have randomly between streams or as an intro i.e. played as soon as you connect before the show starts.

They usually work by connecting to your home wireless network to a directory of stations maintained by the manufacturers. Ive got all L1 & PV streams listed in all the ones i can find. ๐Ÿ˜‰

u listen to the radio to hear music

the best station would be one with no talking. IMO raaa

Personally im not a massive fan of talking over the set, an introduction and a goodbye is ok, but i find it breaks up the music a bit having someone talk over it. I dont mind a TALENTED mc (not some fucking idiot talking shit for ages), because they know what theyre doin, but generally i dont like talking. (i do love samples saying something simple like “motherfucker” or “You got knocked the fuck out….BIATCH!!!”raaa or something like that.)

I quite like DJs chatting during their shows. Not MCs at a venue unless they’re fucking brilliant at what they do and it’s the right kind of music mind.
