How disgracefully misleading that article was
I would urge any1 with any knowledge of the situation to complain to schnews for writing such bad tasted propoganda.

I actually think on the whole it is quite a good article in the point it is trying to make about seperating the crackpot conspiracy theories about 911 from the issue of the neo-con/global capitalist manipulation of events, as the more crazy ideas that get talked about do have a negative effect on the credibility of the more serious arguments.
However, it would appear that they have at the very least mis-represented Shayler’s views, and thats a bit shit really.
September 16, 2006 at 10:24 am #1089857TBH although Schnews has reasonable articles (there is a good one on open source software in the most recent ones) I find they often come across like an “activists’ tabloid” rather than a totally spin-free media outlet. For instance I’ve never seen it discuss the problems with machismo and misogyny within the activist/protest networks – and it also has its own “heroes and villains”.
For instance they say “activist comedian Mark Thomas has been busy” doing whatever right-on stuff – but it doesn’t seem to have got a mention in Schnews thats he’s also been objecting to pubs’ late night licenses like a middle england nimby!
As for Shayler, I’m interested to see what he has to say but TBH I don’t that have much time for “whistleblowers” of any kind.
I feel that if you don’t agree with what an organisation is doing; you do not join it in the first place and take its money etc… and if you join MI5, MI6, GCHQ, the MOD or the other investigative security forces it is obvious to anyone with brains (and you often do need brains to work in to these places) what their work is..
The progressive community champions these whistleblowers and OK they are good info sources; but I can’t help but think on a level of personal integrity that it would be no different from someone from a free party crew or indeed an activist group walking out and telling all to the cops and tabloids.

My whole problem with the 9/11 tin foil hat wearers is that they give governments too much credit. its like that article says, look how much they fucked up iraq, do you realyl think they can orchestrate something like 9/11?! they’re useless!
