i went to bed last night and a couple of minutes later a road crew turned up and started ‘fixing’ the road outside my house

45 minutes later i had to get up and drive to London and back (370 miles round trip)

now i feel like i’m coming down off something. all my mates are at work so i’m going to the local for a fry up and pint

wish me luck… it’s a bad and unforgiving world out there raaa

anyway

its 330 and I just finished work and exhausted on my 9th day and could really have done with a pint too but another early start tomorrow so gonna go to have a kip now

Road crews are part of the Alien Conspiracy,believe me…

Past monthes I had few days of,working on week ends,etc…each time I could have sleep late,the road crews came and drilled holes in the road JUST IN FRONT of my windows.Two times,they begun at 8 PM,I stood up,AND THEY STOPPED JUST AS I WAS TOTALLY AWAKE!!!.

I was sure they were spying me and knew when I needed to sleep.Motherf***ers!!!

I am often on my bike at odd hours and have been surprised at the sort of times at which you encounter roadworks..

I think it is the price of “progress” and privatisation…

it is equally harsh for the people who have to stay up all night to do heavy and dangerous work, often with less light to work by..

but we as consumers all moan and whine and complain if our electricity, gas and telephone services are broken and are not fixed quickly, also people get angry when there are roadworks in the day time

no one is prepared to wait any more, life is faster so this work ends up being done at stupid times of the day and night (probably by foreign workers on 12-16 hour shift, to always get the job done quicker and cheaper (even if residents are kept awake and workers are hurt in accidents)

… the price of “quicker delivery of services…”

I’ve been a part of it…

It’s a pain in the ass to drill concrete at 6:30 in the morning,knowing you’re gonna wake up everyone around…I used to have very shy moves with my driller,even if the noise was the same… : )

The thing I prefer is the “THEY” thing(as for conspiracy):THEY drilled a hole early this morning,THEY blocked the street,etc,etc…as if aliens only could do those things(as most of those works are done by Africans-North-Africans,it sometimes sounds strange to my ears…)
