you want dual phono to single 3.5mm cable and then output it from one of your mixer outs, to your microphone port on your PC

goldwave is another good free alternative

ive chosen to use goldwave as i couldnt get audacity to download properly,

After connecting my decks to my PC with the phono to mini jack cable I have been battling with goldwave to try and get a mix recorded. so far ive had no joy. I have no clue as to where I am going wrong with this.

Is there any other equiptment i need??

I know f*ck all about goldwave!

you might need to fiddle with the input options on goldwave.. make sure your soundcard input is selected as the record channel..

options -> control properties -> ‘device’ tab -> record device
when your primary sound driver is selcted (or whatever you want to use) make sure you can see the control window (tools -> control)
from here you should be able to see the sound level if you’re playing through your input.. then just hit record!

(you need to have created a blank wave file to record onto first with the ‘new’ function)

another program that is easy to use is wavepad by nch software, its free and what i use.

no theres no other soft or hardware you need for simple recording from mixer to pc,

make sure the volume on the input your using is turned up in the windows mixer (ie line volume or mic volume, depends what input your using) its an easy mistake but can be overlooked, i always do stuff like that, and then make sure youve got that input selected in whatever program you use or it wont pic up the signal.

would the blue port (left of the fc sticker) be a suitable place to plug into?

yes I do believe it is the line in, which would be better than the microphone one. I am a superstar DJ dont you know.

Please dont tell me I am wrong, it will destroy my dreams ๐Ÿ™

pink = MIC, green = LINE OUT, blue = LINE IN, black+orange I belive are for 5.1 surround sound and the grey square one is optical out. So you want to record from the blue one. ๐Ÿ˜‰
