I was gonna post this yesterday but forgot. Anyway yesterday at work we had two NSPCC workers outside the shop collecting money.
One approached me while i was having a fag and asked me to donate, When i told him i couldn’t afford it he suddenly became quite aggressive, said that of course i could afford three or four pounds a month and i should do my bit for humanity.
I couldn’t quite believe this so told him i already gave money to the save a donkey foundation and RSPCA.
He told me these charities didn’t matter and that i should act responsibly and give to his charity. I thought the bloke was joking cos i said so but he said no he was being serious, then went into full git mode and started reeling off all these facts and figures about child abuse and shit like that.
Then he goes, just think you could give a fiver a month, maybe forgo buying sandwiches and cigarettes. This bloke had seriously pissed me off by this point so i go
“What and have me going fucking hungry, nah mate I’d probably beat up a small child then, specially when my blood sugar goes low ya know, What do i look like a c*nt or something”
You should of seen the pricks face, he didn’t look happy one bit. I just told him then why didn’t he go off and annoy someone else. He did but he kept giving me evils all the time i was outside.
I can understand the charities plight, but when they hire people like this collecting for em in this manner they ain’t gonna get no where.
The manager of the shop told me they do it all the time as well, Even tried to stop customer going into the shop when he told them to fuck off.
Bit cheeky really ain’t it, has anyone experienced this from charity worker before?
August 14, 2009 at 9:29 am #1204730not seen them acting that badly, but you or the manager of your store has every right to complain to the NSPCC press office or even the Police. The guys behaviour to a complete stranger would be classed as anti-social/illegal whether or not he is a charity collector, no one has the right to approach another person in the street and argue with them once they have been told that the other person does not want a conversation….
the sort of muppet doing this is unlikely to even care about the charity too much but is probably using the job as a stepping stone to another high pressure sales occupation…

August 14, 2009 at 10:11 am #1204734Cheers GL. Yeah i should of taken the blokes name really, You should of seen the other bloke tho, proper pretty boy, kept approaching fit birds and trying to get them to donate. He had no luck as well lol!
But i will forward that link to the manager of the shop, might be of some help to him.
August 14, 2009 at 10:16 am #1204732the NSPCC or their outsourced company will know who was on duty at any one time as rotas need to be kept for pay/commission purposes….

they aren’t above the law either and as Suffolk Constabulary and (mostly Anglican) god squad patrol together in some areas (such as Ipswich and Mid Suffolk) the bobbies tend to keep the religious zealots in check if need be..
