I’m boycotting Christmas yet again. Gonna lock my self in my room and make a tune like I do every year. Think I’ll call this one “DIE SANTA DIE” … wonder if it’ll make no1 this Christmas? :laugh_at:

lolz Jesus wasnt even born on the 25th of December, it was just the churches way of superseding the pagan winter solstice festivals, the commonly recognised year of his birth is wrong too…….. and the gift giving has nothing to do with religion……… the whole things an amalgamation of various traditions, festivals, folk stories & beliefs that have been adopted by our current consumerist society to make us spend money we cant afford to on crap we dont need……….. bah fucking humbug

BUT

We all still participate, because the kids love it, because we like a few extra days off work, and because at some base level we like to compete with each other buying the best gifts, somehow proving our ability to provide and showing our position in society through status symbols.

Naaw…its the end of the year, its cold as fuck and its an excuse to take one week of the year to catch up with old family members, exemplify my love with various small gifts and messages and to have a wee celebration.
Presents arent just about consumerism…some people (i e my mum and nan) generally really enjoy choosing out little gifts they think will make us smile.

Happy holidays ya’all…il be up for a wee sesh in january if anyones about :p

This is true, but if your nan is anything like mine was, I bet she buys little gifts just for the joy it gives the grandkids all year round, Christmas seems so forced, none of us should need a reason to give a gift or be sent scurrying round the shops desperately trying to find something for everyone all at once, we should simply buy the things that will make our loved ones happy when we see something they would really want or need throughout the year.
