Why are dogs and cats a no go if you have a spacious flat and time on your hands?
April 9, 2013 at 10:13 pm #1271349Get a fruit bat. I know someone that used to have 5 of them living in her bathroom. She didn’t tell me they were in there and I went to use the toilet and got quite a shock, they’re much bigger than you’d expect too when face to face with one

Cats need to get outside and you can’t really take them for walks like dogs.
Dogs..well i could have a dog but the shelters dont generally let people with small children in flats rescue animals for a number of reasons. Maybe one day Ill have a house and get one of my nans dalmatians 😉April 9, 2013 at 10:27 pm #1271343@The Psyentist 539379 wrote:

How did it fly about outside? Was it trained to come back?

They were not domesticated but used to humans as they came from a zoo when it closed down and she was friends with the owner. She was only meant to have them a few weeks before they were sent to another zoo but ended up having them for a few months as there were complications with the transfer. She just left the window open and they’d come and go as they pleased but always returned as she provided a stable food source. Guess they had been taught to expect food from humans prior to her having them so them flying away permanently was unlikely.

April 10, 2013 at 2:55 pm #1271333Well, if it comes to low running costs and being “different”, a half brick on a piece of string just can’t be beaten.
Bloody useless at raising the alarm though. But handy for dealing with intruders.
Ozzy Osbourne had one when he was looking for a new band for his PA system, back in the very early 70s. You could always claim it’s a tribute to him.
April 19, 2013 at 10:42 am #1271346I’m going to pick up my rats sunday night, three little girls.
The only problem is I need a stand for them or table because Lyla will have her little finger in the cage.April 19, 2013 at 11:29 am #1271327do you have places like freecycle? often they give away small tables..
April 19, 2013 at 11:37 am #1271347Yeah its quite big here in Brighton as this place prides itself in being green. (also lots of cheap- ass students )
The only problem is I don’t have a car and although I can sort one out freecycle is generally first come first served.
