I know how you feel – only had one bicycle stolen from a garage but annoyed me as it although wasn’t a really flash or expensive on it was a bike some friends had actually built for me in return for helping out with electric wiring at their squat.

shared houses are always being targeted. it really annoys me when this happens as it always seems to be scum targeting young people same as then but who are more “open and trusting”.

one of the worst things that I have noticed happen on the rave scene (and this is probably why raves aren’t as friendly as they once were) is that people would bring back loads of random mates to their home after a rave for the chill-out/comedown…or they would hold house parties

but sometimes some scum would tag along and they’d act reasonably sound when everyone was about but they would be checking out the house and later on during the week the house would get turned over and stuff nicked (like decks, computers etc)

so now people are less trusting.

the security advice others gave is a good idea. It takes time to search cupboards and get past internal locks; most of these burglars just want quick cash for drugs and will not bother with such things.

                That’s crap

Sorry to hear that must have done your head in when ya got back. At least you’re all ok and they didnt take your computer. Cant believe some people what the bollox happened to morals?

Some things are easier to understand in a way, although it is wrong but say something off the back of a lorry the victims are not as direct as some wanker stealing stuff from your home.

I got back after a party in Norfolk and found someone had broken into my car and taken my stereo. Not what you need after being up all night and not exactly thinking properly, reporting it was amusing! It’s shit as would have loved to have seen them do it (esp as Ive got 2 baseball bats sat in the front room) No point claiming on my insurance as lose my no claims plus there’s the excess. So now I have no tunes (NIGHTMARE) a buggered lock (need to try and get fixed) will most likely end up with 2 seperate keys for left and right doors! Oh and they tried to crow bar the frame open. But hey it could have been loads worse and just one of them things I guess. Makes you realise there are some shit people in this world.
One thing that we should all remember is KARMA, and thats what gives me peace of mind.

I know it is no where near as bad as your house being broken into, especially for you house mate asleep but had to have a rant! I hope you and your housemates are ok now.

go down or ring round the scrapyards for a second hand set of key tumblers for your car – should get a full set pretty cheap and they are relatively easy to fit esp. if you getting a garage to do them – easy enough to do yourself if you have the tools and a bit of patience…

                          grrr.

always pisses me off to hear stuff like this. I’ve even heard of it happening at raves…. (and in somewhere like London or a city rave you really have to watch your back and keep an eye on yourself and your stuff)

I agree with you about morals ; I’ve always believed that because as ravers we do “mischevious” stuff like party on places that we are “not supposed to be” we have to make it up elsewhere by being otherwise decent in society, only blagging as a very last resort and never taking from others in the same position..

This sort of thing makes you less open and trusting which is a shame really…

Yes its a real shame because there may be a person who is in real need of help or who is really worth getting to know but because of the type of people who do the sort of behaviour that makes people less trusting we end up becoming insular ourselves and less inclined to open up our selves for fear of getting had over in some way so we can end up missing some really nice people because we are thinking that maybe they r not all they seem or there is an ulterior motive…..well thats how I feel or am I being a bit paranoid?

Think you are right HARTY,we are often judget by our apperence, and that is not fair..

Harty is indeed right but also I think that the good people do have a way of finding each other.

I think we are not so much judged by appearance as by the “lowest common denominator”.

A small (but significant) minority of ravers become addicted to drugs and then often become unstable, untrustworthy and even sometimes violent, and cause burdens to wider society – so cops, authorities, public health service offcials decide that “raves/drug culture must be minimised for the greater good”.

Even ravers are increasingly suspicious of each other now! Unfortunately I do see people who appear to be treating raves just as a “townie event without cops/bouncers” and are attending to “prove themselves”, blag something or cause trouble which may be a cause of this:rant:

Its a bit like people from other contries, and another background.
When there are a few bad people, you often judge the rest of them the same way..Thats not fair either.
I live in the same house with a guy from Irak,he is one of the sweetest people i know, but i think he somtime having a difficult time living in Denmark, because people only se his black skin..We should be ashamed of ourself sometimes.. IMO

Yeah couldnt agree more, it is a shame that there are a few people that have no respect for others and think they can do what they want to whoever they want. At free parties you really don’t need people going round tryna steal things. Luckily enough in the years ive been going I have found that there is always a magical friendly vibe and when there has been any trouble it has been dealt with immediately by everyone joining together, showing that they’re not gunna tolerate it. I think that in the main there is the common unity with peeps being there for the music and the atmosphere.

well i totally know where you are coming from, as i was burgalled twice in 2 weeks about 5/6 years ago, and they took everything part from some shitty cds which i am now ashamed of having in the first place!

But i know the feeling of not being able to sleep and having somebody in your house and rummaging through your things is one of the worst times i had in my life.
Even now i refuse to leave the house without having every window with the curtains or blinds shut. and leaving lights on a sometimes the tv still on, And till this day sometimes at work or even out at a party i still sometimes think if our house is ok, this may sound a little bad but it has definatly left a mental scare on me after nearly 6 years.

Im just so glad that back then i was not a dj and the things i lost where just objects that can be replaced and thank god im not the same person as i was back in the day, So on the bonus it sort of helped me start over again and made me into what i am today.

But once again having the car Broken into at the weekend pissed me and missunshine right off,

1: because how the fuck do they have to right to take something that is not theres.

2: If i found out who they were and went round there house and stole my stuff back then i would then become the criminal. and the filth would be more than happy to charge me with this.

3: They dont think or even worse dont care about the aftermath, of say one the cost of replacing everything, also people “no claims” and insurance going sky high for the next couple of years. I have known a couple who were together for about 8 years and they got robbed and they ended up spilting up due to the stress of it all, and not being able to afford to replace there stuff ad this stress killed there relationship

Im not saying im a saint cause im far from it, im the same as most of the humans on this planet who has nicked the odd sweet from woolworths or not told a cashier they have given me a couple quid to much in my change, But i like to think i still got some respect for other human beings and think about my actions as much as i can!

I hope the theiving scumbags enjoy our car stereo or your friends Tv and dvds, as we can move on and get bigger better things through doing things the same way as most of us “work”!
As for them KArma is a evil thing and they may love the fact of having all this “loot” but sooner or later karma will win!
But the worse thing is that oim sure when karma comes knocking on there door, they still most likely wont know what they are being punished for………..
