We have been down for the past few days as the primary hard drive failed on our server axe.gif

The datacenter replaced it for us and we tried restoring from the backup drive firstly the daily backup, it turns out this was corrupt. And so we tried restoring from the weekly backup. And that was also corrupt what.gif

As a last chance saloon i upped a backup i had on my pc from feb 3rd. Luckily this wasnt corrupt :thumbsup

The bad news is we have lost all members who have registered since feb 3rd, we have also lost all posts, threads, pm’s etc etc.

The good news is we havent lost 7 years of shiz Headphones_anim.gif

All members dj mixes werent backed up due to the size of them, so they will require reupping, ive closed that section for now as i will be putting in a new downloads system in the next few days, please bear with me on this one. We should be able to move over replies to exisiting member dj mixes to the new system.

I do have backups of the gold member mixes which il be re-upping over the next few days.

As you can prolly tell the new new style i made was done after the feb backup so il be working on sorting this back out over the next couple of weeks.

The size of the sites on the server is over 130 gig and even tho the datacenter replace faulty parts within 4 hours, the hard drive is the only part that means the site is down for days whilst the dead big dock off backup is restored onto it.

To make sure this doesnt happen again i am looking into moving onto a server with 2 identical hard drives in a raid 1 array, this means that both drives are mirrored and if one of the drives is to fail then the other one carries on and you get no downtime.

The problem i have is at the mo the server is costing around 170 nuggets a month and the new server would be around 210. We get in on average around 120 a month in total from the gold memberships.

If anyone can either sign up to gold or throw a donation into the pot then it would be much appreciated. All monies raised from OSA go back into OSA and if i can get into a position where this new server can be a option itd see us right for future scenarios like this happening again. Donations can be sent to butty@oldskoolanthemz.com.

My apologies for the downtime we have had, it looks like the reason it has been up n down like a yoyo as of late was due to the hard drive being on its last legs.

Weve not had luck on our side this past week. The day that the drive conked out i sent in a support ticket to ask them to check the hardware on the server. Hindsight can be a right b!tch but if i would have sent that in a day earlier we may have been able to save the data off the failing drive before it went up shat creek withoot a paddle axe.gif

Anyways things could be worse and apart from the fact ive got a lot more grey hairs than i did have last week im jus glad were back sorted and can keep on with the mission of being the tinterwebs numero uno website thumbsup.gif

      Attention Gold Members:

It seems since the crash it has messed up the gold members, the monthly payers if you are currently not gold then you will turn automatically back gold on the date of your next payment (its all automatic and if i change it manually it could mess it up) – Apologies for this and thanks for your patience.

If you have signed up for a year between feb 3rd and may 5th then pls pm me with the date your payment went through and i will check it and sort your subscription out for you manually asap.

      Apologies for the inconvenience
