exactly. Even if she never sings or dances again, unless she has blown her money on rubbish she will remain a high net worth individual and maybe still have the more dedicated (obsessive?) fans supporting her.

However those who watch MTV pay money for their murdochboxes etc and they are entitled to get a “quality” product. If her performance current isn’t up to scratch people have every right to complain, same as if you went to a Tidy weekender or something and a DJ played a shit set.

when I said “she should give it up and look after kids” I didn’t mean it like a sexist neanderthal type comment – but by walking away from performing, particularly as she is not up to standard – it will give her and her family much needed space and time away from the glare of publicity.

maybe after a rest she can make a comeback, after all there are loads of rock stars around old enough to be my grandad who are still performing – Debbie Harry just did a concert in Thetford , I think she is in her sixties now and from what I saw she looked more like a better looking version of Margaret Thatcher…

I would say the same for any entertainer of any genre…

I think people get addicted to fame and recognition same as with drugs and they don’t know when it is actually bad for them.

thats the way the industry works and I worked in it from 1998 to 2001

I worked for a company which was the main outsourced supplier for many TV companies, helping install sophisticated computer equipment. We did stuff for MTV, Granada, Anglia, Yorkshire, all the BBC regions and many foreign broadcasters

the whole media thing is fucking ruthless – you’d be speaking to the people whose jobs you were helping reduce – in some cases, the equipment you made was often replacing them, or you were doing a job what would have been done by someone “in house” so the atmosphere wasn’t exactly fun

your colleagues who were your age would pretend to be your friend but would always be trying to stitch you up behind your back. Out of my colleagues, one went mentally ill and got sectioned, another went from bright spark to a crackhead within the space of months, staff turnover was horrendous. Competition, rivalry and stress was intense and this was just for the engineers jobs which weren’t exactly creative. Just think what it must be like for producers, presenters and performers..

But we all knew what we were getting into and we had the chance to walk away at any time. No one put a Glock to our heads and said we had to do it.. (it was the height of the youth media/new media/dotcom days when technology/multimedia was cool)

                      Aweee.
                      She’s not fat! Well…not huge!
                      She just had two kiddies.

                      But her performance was horrid.
I was actually embarrassed for her. :crazy_diz
