September 12, 2007 at 3:39 pm #1119660nah i agree with sandals, its not about her weight – shes still got a body that i would kill to have, but that dancing is really really poor, lip sinking to the max theres no energy or enjoyment in performing there – and that song makes my ears bleed

September 12, 2007 at 6:19 pm #1119649Scrutiny and criticism from the media and public is what keeps celebs, politicians and rich businesspeople in order and stops the fame/money/power from getting to their heads.
I bet someone like Bill Gates wouldn’t have given so much money to charity or have reined in some of his business practices were it not for the media and bloggers keeping a close eye on his business activities.
I don’t see any difference between the people here (some of whom have knowledge of the effort involved for performing) criticising her performance and the media or “normal people” criticising what ravers do.
There’s probably thousands of talented young ladies who could now do her job way better (maybe even Sandals or the other ladies on this thread :laugh_at:) and maybe its about time someone else was given a chance.
Its a competitive world and fame doesn’t last for ever. No different from how some rave crews, DJ’s and musicians lose their way, or sportspeoples careers end as they get older.
She hasn’t got to worry about a team of armed police trashing her performance like what American rave crews occasionally have to put up with, and as I said still has lots of money from her back catalogue royalties whenever her old tracks are played on the radio.
PLUR might seem like a good ideal but really its a superficial buzzword some Americans dreamed up 17 odd years ago…. In the absence of consensus and acceptance of our different cultures, people will always fight their corner to defend their opinions.
Obviously I wouldn’t agree with something like throwing a CS gas canister into a packed concert of those emo/nu-rave muppets for instance (although it would give them something real to cry about) but I feel I have the right to criticise their music..

She’s devastated. She was really nervous and knows she screwed up.
The singer may have had an inkling of what was to come prior to her performance: A VMA insider tells Us that Spears fired her hairstylist right before going on.
