      Hi all,

Haven’t been around so much for a while. Had a car accident ( Lost control of the car when the roads were pure ice with the sun on it and ended up off the road and had to get pulled out by a tractor…anyhoo…) and its only been recently I can even sit in front of a computer without a massive headache! And of course now am completely swamped with work and Swedish assignments that have not been done and are due. 🙁

I have a question for all you internet computer wizzes.
Today the Swedish government( arsholes) voted in favour of making internet companies hold onto data for 6 months with the view of prosecuting people who download.
Not only infringing privacy online, but also able to access basically any form of digital communication. Texts, calls, emails etc.

      Sad sad day.

Wasn’t something like this done in the UK too?

How can I get around this? Yes I download stuff. Mostly TV eppies. Does a vpn really work? Are there other ways?
Living in a Swedish speaking land, having a few eppies of my fav english speaking programs is my way of chilling out.

The say its to stop child pornography, but fuck, isn’t there a better way instead of stopping it rather than taking away Mr Joe Averages privacy?
Fucking hell. It’s againts MY human rights dammit to be subjected to this.
      Comes into effect May 1.

Need to get myself set up and sorted before then if it is actually possible.
One provider here is giving ALL their customers the same isp so nothing can be traced to any one person. Unfortunately where I live we don’t get to choose our provider we have to have the one we have.

      Bah.

Anyway, hope everyone is ok and enjoying Spring! (The snow has been melting here, another 2-3 weeks of plus temperatures and maybe it will be mostly melted!)

Shit sorry to hear about the crash, so glad you’re ok though!

you might want to look into the “tor” network, it’s about as anonymous as you can get, but they advise not to use torrents on tor (I’m not sure if that’s to do with people’s bandwidth as it’s run through peoples home pc’s alot of the time or whether it gives up your actual ip). People like “anon” use it, it’s not 100% safe, nothing ever is, but it’s probably the closest thing to it atm that the public know of.

I suggest you read into it a lot though to make sure it will give you some cover in exactly what you are doing, don’t take my word for it as i’ve not used it for what you are going to use it for.

            Thanks guys,
I looked up Tor but it seems a little bit complicated for me and if you do one thing wrong you expose yourself.
            Hmmmmm

I am still so sore in my neck and back its going to take a while I guess for everything to stop hurting! Damn not having any good sources where I am!!!!
I joked to Markus that if there was ever a time in my life I needed some weed it was now.
            sigh.

What about things like rapidshare? Or sites where you download files but don’t actually seed because its not a torrent, do those sites count and are they monitored?
I don’t download music (except from here) as I have spotify so I am going to be gutted if I can’t get my weekly fix of Criminal Minds and so on.

To even think that I am going to have to be faced with Swedish crap tv… well…. let’s not go there unless it’s the final option.

I guess streaming is one option but not always good quality…

            How is everyone?

Take extra good care of the neck, once you get trouble with that it wont be easy to get rid of…

I hope you will be back in full force soon.
