    ohhhhh,

I have a new house mate after 5 + years,

I have shared houses / flats before but its been so long its a bit weird

first night tonight and there’s about 6 streets without electricity, but every 3rd or 4th house had some and I/ we was lucky……

so we went down the local sweet shop but they had no electricity so closed, and luckily the new sri lankan super market shop owend by them opened on fri –

so got the wrong un in,

he got the wine in and we talked shit all night, and got the old photos out…..

anyone got any good mental / weird flatmate stories???

I had a flatmate that used to have to lock his bedroom door at night because if he didnt he’d sleepwalk out into the street.

i’ve just moved in with 2 girls. after spending so much time with guys over the past few years it’s bizarre having makeup in the living room and tripping over hair straighteners in the kitchen!

hey honey ๐Ÿ™‚ nice to c things r movin on 4 u. an yeah sharing can be wierd but also fun!

mental flatmate stroies – a friend moved into spare bedroom in my flat, but was sooo slack about the washing up, eventually i left it and said, i’m not doing any more its ur turn . . . this went on and on till nothing in kitchen was left clean eurgh.

then one day, b4 i went to work i made my point, do it!

i came back to find the kitchen surfaces and sink empty yey! But then realised there was nothing in the cupboards ?

i then went out and inspected the bin bags outside the door, and there was a saucepan handle sticking out thru the plastic, ALL the washing up (all MY kitchen stuff) was in the bins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bastard!!!! i got him back in the end, tho thats another story ๐Ÿ˜‰

and what do you mean the ‘wrong’ way = ocd? there is only one right way, the leading edge falls over and forward. not back . ?

It’s very competitive in the world of toilet roll hanging don’t you know ๐Ÿ˜‰

and I think we (paper falls forward) are the exception rather than the rule. Is there a toilet roll book of etiquette that I need to read, lol.

mine usually points towards the back – but IMO there are even valid scientific reasons (other then personal preference) for either choice – I have found at least one such direction results in the end of the toilet roll being caught by local airflow, spinning on the holder of its own accord (due to centrifugal/centripetal force and momentum)- and depositing the contents of the roll on the floor, until it is either exhausted or friction brings it to a stop.

whilst it might be occasionally forgiven if a cute puppy or kitten does this (as in the TV ads), it is highly annoying even when you live alone, as you then have to rewind the paper back on to the roll.

So I think I subconsiously pick whatever configuration does not cause this to happen – although I have not given it much thought until now. To further complicate matters I think the holder is not entirely on the level.

I am unsure of the exact physics behind it – I bet some brainy person could write a entire scientific paper about it with loads of equations and diagrams, someone in uni may have probably already done so :laugh_at:

I dont want to state the obvious here, but isn’t the answer here to not have a toilet roll holder at all. You can put the toilet roll on top of the toilet flush tank. I have also seen other designs where the toilet roll holder is a base with a wooden pole. This has a multi-stacking advantage.

have no worries about up or down on the toilet seat issue, I am however remaining very OCD about the toilet roll…. :you_crazy

am loving having him back, we are back hiding severed fingers ๐Ÿ˜‰ and finding it all very amusing in a very childish mannor :laugh_at:

he was gone for 3 weeks cat sitting,
he has however started eating meat and smoking since moving in with me…. so maybe it’s not mutual :laugh_at::laugh_at:

but am oop north with my lovely for a few days, and thats even better
