Thought I’d go round and introduce myself to our new neighbours last night. you know ask if they were ok, do they need anything. as im away working most of the time. i live in a quite little town,

I knew they were in ‘cos I’d just seen ’em walk up the driveway, so I knock
and wait, and wait, and wait and I’m just walking back down the path when the door opens slightly and a frightened little voice says “what is it? what do you want?” I introduce myself and ask how they’re doing, takes a while for the ice to melt and as I walk away I feel there’s something distinctly “not right”

This morning I bump into their son who’s aged about 25 I reckon, he gives me a really filthy look as I get into my car. So I get out and walk up to him, hold out my hand and introduce myself. The guy almost literally shits himself.

My missus has just rung to say she’s been talking to our new neighbour, seems where they lived before they were basically driven out by bnp nazi. Wife had to take her into our house, show her anti-racist posters, books etc. Poor bastards, thought they’d jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire.

anyway we’re invited round for drinks tonight, yayhay we’re all happy icon_lol.gif

ive been in taxis driven my asians a couple of times and been pissed, started a freindly chat with the driver, which goes okay until i ask abotu how long theyve been in this country, or if they have family or something and theyve shit themselves. makes me so ashamed that they expect me to start being racist at them. id love finding out who racists are so i can devote some time trying to straighten them out and realise theyre wrong. its amazing that people can hang onto such bullshit ideas so vehemently.

i know my missus gets really fucked off with people asking how long have you lived here or why did you move here

although a lot of the time it’s not malicious, it just becomes really boring talking about not being english for the sake of small talk… imagine if 80% of the time when you told someone your name they started asking about your heritage and how long you’ve live somewhere… it’s really boring .. and sometimes it is malicious

i took my wife’s (clearly not english) surname when we got married and i’ve started to see what she means.. everytime you have to give someone your name you can gauge who they are out of 3 personality types.. not bothered, inquisitive, antis

what might seem like small talk to you, has other connotations for a lot of people

    sad state of affairs
