can the police ANPR cameras tell if your mot has run out on your car? i know they can for insurance and tax, but didnt think they could for MOT…

I think they can, though it might be fairly recently that VOSA/DVLA have been working very closely with the traffic police…

as I was riding to work today I noticed they were setting up a VOSA checkpoint in the village where I work (the inspector was actually a fit young lady, not sure if this is some sort of psychological/distraction tactic :laugh_at:)

I haven’t for about 7 months and haven’t had any letters. Been to london and what not loads in this time and no problems. Although haven’t been driving last 2 months.

Only time you have to worry is maybe traffic coppers with estates. I think they automatically check tax, however Im not sure about MOT. All I know is there is no automatic system like with your tax from the DVLA or whoever might handle it.

spoke to a mate who’s a mechanic, says a car with no MOT would show up on the ANPR, but only after a month as it takes a while for it to get on the system…

i’m sure they can, but they must be lazy about it as i was driving round for about 4 months without one and had many police encounters where it wasn’t mentioned!
