October 16, 2006 at 5:56 pm #1092328hi loonie… welcome to partyvibe!
I may have sketched out some plans/ideas for someone a couple years ago (I don’t even own a van/rig myself although I used to help out at a few raves)
I’ve moved this year to the other side of the country from Reading (where I used to live), calmed down my rave activities loads and unfortunately a lot of my info like this is back in Reading rather than online!
TBH if all you are worried about is the rig moving about whilst in transit then a bit of sensible packing and bungee ropes should make it safe….Also depends on whether you are using the van merely for rig or also to live in.
A mate of mine built a compartment into his truck (a big ex-BT van) to hold the rig in whilst the middle part is used for living in (but can also store rig material)
If you can get or blag the “rentacrates” used for office moves they are excellent for storing small items in that otherwise go flying across the van when you take a sharp turn..

yeh cheers man well basically all i wanna do is get like an leayland daf van and rig out the back ive got a pic but fuck knowes how you post em up on here(so diff to sj haha) umm ive seen it don befoe with 2 scoops at the bottom and then like a kicker sub (car audio) in the middle with a scoop box around it and then 2 top speakers above those small lil rig bout 3-4k
i’d love to make something like this just to show up all the pricks that think little cars from the 80’s are cool (alot of those wankers arond here) and just show em up for some giggles. if you have anything at all man i would be so greatful it would be unreal
just even a way of putting em in and not getting nicked by the police coz i cold get done for carry sound equip unless it was bolted in right??? but would i be able to get t in and out easily and like i have so many questions genny or engine etc etc

make a list of what you want to cram in and we can all give you advice 😉
October 20, 2006 at 5:37 pm #1092329I see what you mean now..
I’ve since vaguely remembered what this was all about…when I lived back in Reading a mate of mine called Random Tom was doing just this – he had already got some speakers in the van and whilst on the way back from some Ridgeway rave I sketched out some plans to put in more kit in there, and (most importantly) how to get sufficient electric power to all this equipment – as otherwise you will cane your vehicles battery and not be going anywhere 🙂
Sadly I don’t have these sketches any more as they were left behind in the garage at my old house in Reading when I was moving out and mice got in and nibbled them!
No great loss though as lots of things would be different anyway for your vehicle and my designs were based on what was easily available/could be blagged from surplus equipment (we were doing a lot of warehouse parties at the time)
Unfortunately these days having the rig in your van and blasting it out at cruise meets (although I can see the comedy value in this :laugh_at:)won’t stop you getting beef from the cops nowadays as they now have a law where they can confiscate the vehicle if locals complain its too noisy..
And 3-4K rig won’t run off a car battery, you will need a genset (a big one)
however if you still want to try this feel free to ask further questions… BTW to attach pictures use the “manage attachments” button below the window in which you type the messages in..
October 22, 2006 at 12:00 pm #1092330one thing I forgot to add (which is quite important) that happened to my friend is that the moment your vehicle is seen often at raves the cops put its details on a special computer record which means that every traffic cop in the area is told to pay more attention to the vehicle ….
because of this he was busted for driving when stoned and lost his license although he admitted himself he was in the wrong I still think the cops wouldn’t have bothered him so much if he wasn’t known for attending raves..
so if you do want to get involved in driving rig vehicles you have to drive more carefully than anyone else on the road…
October 26, 2006 at 9:56 am #1092337thanks general
this sounds good, i see your points on the o.b front and this is the problem. but then again wouldnt some false plates do it??? just to stick em on and then wip em off. but then i suppose if they do decide to look in/around the van i would be fucked wouldn’t i.
but thats for me to worry about hey:wink:
ive got a pic of a rig van that looks well good it has 2 scoops (18’s) i think and then a square sub which i have never seen used in a rig before yet have seen in car audio(i didnt think u matched these 2 in the same rig, i may be wrong) and then 2 tops. but as i say once i get my mits ont my other comp i’ll upload it and show you.
cheers man your a legend thanks for all of your help everyone.

October 26, 2006 at 10:49 am #1092331fake plates == very bad idea; you are passing a load of hassle onto another innocent person, will still get caught eventually and the cops will treat it as far more serious than just making a noise in your van.
It doesn’t matter anyway, laws have been changed so if you make too much noise from your vehicle traffic cops can confiscate the vehicle anyway, whatever plates it is showing

dunno where you live but they are well on top round here in Suffolk..
most of my mates who drive to raves get round this problem by making sure their vehicles are 100% leagal and by driving carefully..
October 30, 2006 at 8:20 pm #1092338here is the pic of the van i was talking about its a fucking rude boy but i was thinking perhaps some punishers at the bottom rather than scoops but what the rfuck is that kicker sub doing in there
met a guy at the weekend hu was runing a 15” 2×12” and 2×10 off of a 350w splx amp!!!!! now this did sound like it ws pushing but the drivers wernt peaking at all was quite wrecked aswell so was a little hard to destinguish but yeh i hope this gives an idea init
