What a fucking pile of cheese, not even good cheese like Camembert either!

I sort of agree with poly and when I saw it thought it was a bit unrealistic and didn’t completely address the downsides of drug use but bear in mind the era it was made in.

there were better drugs, the economy was booming, the govt of the time (Blair in his early days) was too either out of touch to lock down the scene or even tolerated (there was even a rumour the whole EU was going to legalise soft drug use!) – there was no tension between Muslims or East Europeans and anyone else (even though there were already many folk from these faith groups or countries in the UK) even the protest networks were hedonistic, people were only just starting to realise the bad effects of constantly doing party drugs.

In most areas these “good times” lasted until 2003/4…

so of course any film made back then is going to look cheesy.

unfortunately there are permanent changes like resource depletion, and changes in political power – there won’t be an economic “recovery” as such as people will have to get used to not using continued economic growth based on cheap energy and abundant resources as the basis of their lives. Doesn’t mean the world will end but todays youth won’t get to repeat excesses of the 1990s – and even by the time things get “better” they will most probably be our age and thats two whole decades away. I think many know this deep down and thats why people see stuff like human traffic as “cheesy”…

if we’re lucky the govt will decriminalise stimulant use to encourage people to work (speed was legal in the UK from the 1940s until the early 1970s and we built loads of stuff )

              Hi General Lighting ,
Yes it is a scary time , you and i have seen many a recession in our time . However i think this is the most far reaching as in so much cut backs . It seems most cut backs now are not because they are not needed , no because they cant afford them . And no one can say they think thier job is safe ……..not good .

              Lets hope for better times

              Regards

Personaly I don’t buy into “this whole” we are all fucked pollarks.

Econamy is a made up thing imo … yes I agree that world wide we all have to trade somehow … but the fact that “quantative easing” is possable, besides many things makes it, to me , plane to see that money and all it’s troubles are really just made by the banks+!

IE. How can a country just “print” more cash to get them selves out of trouble? this makes NO logical sence in any way shape or form!

basicaly, if I have any understanding on what’s going on at all .. we are just borrowing more cash from “the bank of england” by doing this? Or maby it’s the global loan shark?

I feel Ignorant when it comes to economics … but the more I look into it the less it actualy makes any sence what so ever (from a persons point of view not a money hoarders point of view!)

this foolishness occurs because nations and much of the global economy bases prosperity on economic growth and the concept of interest rather than the correct value of real assets (resources, manufactured object, land, houses etc). If countries, companies and people are content with a steady state economy there would not be a need for printing more money.
