I guess a few years back i would have done that but these days i am “where the buck stops” if I dont deal with it, it will only be 10 times as bad by the time I do get to it, at least I am now devolping staff that can deal with it for me. That feels strange though, letting other take some of the strain, I had to pick up a screwdriVer the other day (for work, I still mess with “stuff” at home) it felt morw than a little odd..specialy in the pin stripe !!!

June 17, 2006 at 9:57 pm #1079219That sounds tough atm23,
at least when I leave work, I leave work til I’m back in and don’t have to think of it.
But I guess it has its upside for you or you wouldn’t keep doing it?June 18, 2006 at 9:45 am #1079189atm23 wrote:I took me jacket off !! ruined my mental image though
June 18, 2006 at 10:18 am #1079172I very recently moved into a managerial position which is taking up more of my time and energy – I do not thankfully have to do particularly odd hours although I sometimes work weekends or longer hours if required but it is more demanding anyway as there is no one to bail me out if things go pear-shaped or I make a mistake (and it involves keeping a close watch on the finances of the business).
Its better paid than what I was doing before though (was a civil servant for 4 years!) and I no longer work in a city environment and its amazing how much nicer that makes working. I even have to shoo out sparrows/robins from the office (a converted pig barn!) as they seem to like flying in..
I did have to move hundreds of miles away from all my friends and for socialising have had to try to meet new people which is difficult as I am quite shy in real life as opposed to on-line and this area is really big so everyone is miles away from each other..
but these days in IT or professional jobs you need to follow the work and find the niche markets that remain in Britain as so much is being outsourced/offshored these days..
BTW much respect to gv23 , Biotech, Binge and Titch for making me feel welcome…
June 18, 2006 at 10:29 am #1079190i have nothing but respect for folks who work in it; my patience does not run to that:horay::horay::horay:

June 18, 2006 at 10:28 pm #1079220Ditto to the above really, mucho respect to you all, I am far to scared, esp financially, to ever think of being my own boss, and would not know where to start or even find the motivation and balls to contemplate it!!
Also computers???? give me people anyday they’re much easier for me to understand, computers are like a different language for me – I am very proud of my self for even registering on this forum and ebay!!!

June 18, 2006 at 10:48 pm #1079200:bigsmile: Hi NIGHT-NURSE..
At work again ?
June 18, 2006 at 11:00 pm #1079221yep, seem to be on a long stretch, got tomorrow and tue off back in on wed.
I do actually do some work when i’m here (not much admittedley) on nights but all the patients ‘have’ to go to bed and arnt ‘allowed’ up til 6 a.m hence i get really bored here. Not sure if there is much i could do if they refused to go to bed, but most people stick by the ‘rules’ here as they are ‘contracted’.
Its a nice break for me doing nights (2 weeks every 6) as days get so (!!!!) hectic
how did the birthdays go?June 18, 2006 at 11:11 pm #1079201Lot of kids,but it went good.Happy kids..
And when the kids are happy, mother is happy:bigsmile:

But I guess it has its upside for you or you wouldn’t keep doing it?In general the upside is being able to pay the bills, I’ve never planned my career, but if I’m going to do something, work or play I try and give it my all, this seems to pay off with work but its more of a coincidence than by design.
How I ever ended up doing what I do know I’ll never know !! but since I have no burning desire to to anything else I’ll just go with the flow..after al;l u cant beat the system 😉
