Ronny, I’d suggest asking a friend if you can use a copy of theirs to evaluate the program before you buy. Or download the trial versions.
It would maybe be possible that i could let you have a look at my backup copy for evaluation purposes only, might be worth sending me a PM if you’d like to discuss this further.

If you were serious about using cubase or ableton…you get a copy of Cubase LE or Ableton Live light free with a lot of midi controllers or external soundcards.
Totally worthwhile having a real copy of ableton if your going to be using it a lot.
Get yourself a demo of Ableton from the Ableton site to evaluate,then as Elretardo says if you like it pick up a soundcard/controller with a bundled copy of Ableton.
