does anyone know anything aout the origins of the term that seperates flavours of dance music…

      beats per minute?

first reference i know of is a sample in Kraftwerk’s “Elektro Kardigramm”

:question_ :annoyed: :alcoholic :omg_no: :blackeye: :group_hug :biggreen:

I think its been used for years as sheet music has a metronome setting on it with a ‘(musical note) = xxx’ symbol where xxx is the tempo in beats per minute

I used to have a book from 1978 about DJ’ing (original disco/flares style) which mentions it (and beat mixing), you could buy a large computer printout of all the disco tunes and their BPM

Its also a widely used medical term (hence Kraftwerk’s choice of title)
