Ah well, McDonald is a very old name, with a very interesting double meaning. It’s always the wrong ‘uns that give the good folk a bad rep.
Admitedly my cousin Ronald (I mean my real cousin) did shoot an unarmed Dutch girl during the Arnham paradrop mission but she was running away with food towards the Germans and he was STARVING.
Fine line between crime and survival. Megacorparations just take the piss though.
Now, as for real cool villains… Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner, Roy Batty. Or Harrison Ford as Decker, take your pick which is the bad guy.
Evil, or The Devil, in Time Bandits is pretty nutty too. Definitely a bad guy. Played by David Warner.

its Zaks the evil wizzard from the Dizzy games form the 80’s. Viva la amstrad 464. Aparantly they are making a mobile game of dizzy. I havn’t read it yet but here Codemasters – Dizzy: Prince of the YolkFolk
May 27, 2012 at 11:59 pm #1253690Aha – did you know Amstrad Action had it’s own folk song? It went;-
“Amstrad Action
Amstrad Action
YOU’RE
NOT FIT
TO WIPE
MY ARSE.YOU’RRRE
NOT FIT
TO WIPE
MY ARSE.”The management didn’t like it, we didn’t give a shit.

Oh I dunno. You could theoretically commit an armed robbery and be home in under 3 minutes. Not a bad payment/work hour ratio.
Possibly a bit tricky to explain to the Feds though why you’ve got 2 dozen Happy Meal toys stashed in your fridge.
BUT seriously… I don’t eat there either. Well, maybe a breakfast every year or so when there’s no alternative except empty chip papers. I gotta be HUNGRY though… and I always regret it afterwards.
May 28, 2012 at 9:34 am #1253675We used to always get action amstrad cos it came with a demo tape. It was not the best quality paper though. Sometimes they would give full programs away with it. Did you work there or something?
May 28, 2012 at 4:23 pm #1253692Dat was my virst Technikal Editoship ad thy gabe me a job cos of my ritten English skillz. First guy in that job was Richard Monteiro, who left and founded his own publishing firm (Paragon).
So actually I did quite a bit of freelance for AA before I got a staff job – cos they (Futile pube licking, otherwise known as Future Publishing) started in a guy’s living room just a couple train stops from me. Bought issue 1 and thought “Aha! I can do this stuff”. 3 years later got a real job out it. I’ll never forget the time Chris Anderson offered me a job – I was half way through a Schwarz Brothers burger and nearly choked on it.
Messy. VERY messy. But he still gave me the job. Doing the tape was part of the job – 3 inch disks were stupidly expensive (not 3.5 inch, 3 inch). Coded up a little thing called TypeWriter to help people actually type in the programs. Unfortunately it occasionally generated rude 4 letter words and had to be recoded after I left (grin).
Then I they asked me for an Amiga guy who could string words together and I put forward Jason Holborn. Then I quit AA due to my mother dying. Then Bob Wade, editor of Amiga Format at that time, phoned me and said Jason H was too much of an arsehole and could I please learn how to use an Amiga in like… 6 weeks. Tough time. Tough job. Nutty, rock n roll geekdom. We outsold Penthouse. We left golfing country clubs and exotic hotels smoking ruins in terms of technology, carpet burns, and empty bottles (champagne and Newcastle Brown mostly). They didn’t want us again, even as paying guests.
Then it became pretty clear that the PC was going to outprice the Amiga ‘cos everyone was making open source PC compatible kit and well… I left at the high point. Better that way. I was sick of playing with everybody else’s toys and wanted to make my own. Was offered the editorship – turned it down. I just didn’t have the management skills to handle it then and I knew it. Also getting my dick cut was kind of a high priority and there was no way I was going to ask for sick leave for that sort of deeply embarrassing personal problem.
A certain unnamed cheeky bastard editor actually printed that I was a “comms weirdy” because I liked talking to different people online. Yeah, he really couldn’t see it catching on… but I like to think I’m reconciled with all them folk. Even the ones I REALLY fell out with… and man, there were some fights and bitchiness in that place.
Oh yeah, the Oliver Twins, the guys that did Dizzy. Good hardworking bro’s. I put them and the Darling Bros (Codemasters) onto AA, but it was a quiet month and they deserved the break. They were SO straight… very shocked to observe their fellow codeheads doing naughty things at company parties and such like. Darling’s were mentored by their Dad, so they stayed pretty square. Last I heard the Olivers were headed to the big Nin… so they probably coded quite a bit of Mario by now. Haven’t seen them in like 20 years. More than likely on a Caribbean private island or such like.
