got the original 12inch with carvings on the blanks: “for spiggy”(wich is A. Eldritch´s cat) and “long live gonzoid amphetamine filth”

                    errrr. todays choices are:

parklife by blur (actually any blur song really)
oh this is too hard…….prob one of the most difficult questions ever!

or anything by babyhead or top cats, or the doors/pinkfloyd/nirvana/chillies/jonny cash/nickcave/ ocean colour scene/ the list is absoulutely endless!

One song ill always love is bird house in my soul by they might be giants….was the first ever record i put on a deck at the age of about 4, and i played it till it was fooked! Heard it play at the rocket festy last year and nearly cried! Oh dear…should i admit that???!!!!

Change my opinion on this constantly, but for now I’ll say the following choices:

Joy Division – Love Will Tear Us Apart

Suzanne Vega – Marlene on the Wall

The Buzzcocks (I think – John Peel’s fave tune anyway – you’ll all know it) – Teenage Kicks

Guns n Roses – Sweet Child o’ Mine

                        Grandmaster Flash – White Lines

you’ve all cheated and put more than one so I’m having another pop with my top 5, in no particular order

                          The Jam – That’s Entertainment

                          Sex Pistols – Pretty Vacant

                          Public Image Ltd – Poptones

If I had to choose one it’d be the whole of Dark side of the moon by Floyd (which is really all just one track…:bigsmile:)

If I could choose one more as every body else is now doing the aging punk in me would have to add Shot by both sides by Magazine…:bigsmile::bigsmile:

ay..ayy..less of the ageing punk !!, I missed out on all that really having been only 6 in 76, got into it all later on, through the mod / scooter scene. in many ways thats why i got so into the “rave” scene, it was something that for once was happening NOW so i grabbed it with both hands and never looked back!

I used to have a real objection to Floyd, it just reminded me of all those wooley hippy types I knew a college. However i recently “aquired” ever album they ever did, I always liked the stuff with syd, but recently had “wish u were here” in the car quite touching really..maybe i’m getting a little more mellow with time 😉

You’re older than me then…. I got into it second time around (played a punk club in the early nineties, although listened to it when I was very young due to a brother who was into the Jam etc… Good education…:bigsmile:)

Same here for the rave scene too – attitude was much the same.

As for Floyd, nobody who listens to it can have an objection to true genius, and calling it hippy music is only really done by people who have never listened to it :bigsmile::bigsmile:. The Wall is far from easy or comfortable listening, and IMO has more in common with punk than anything else (I used to slip various Floyd tunes into my punk sets, and they were always well received):rant::rant:

Harlem – Bill Withers – live in Carnegie Hall (67 I think?)
                                                      its just excellent

I like to sing at the top of my lungs – so anything by Nina Simone but especially “I wish I knew how it would feel to be free”, and “feeling good”

                                                      mmmm…..
