could go both ways

wild cats in foreign countries eat non-poisonous spiders as a matter of routine.. as do many pet cats, some people encourage this so they don’t get spiders in the house

I wouldn’t recommend escalating this to the ancient Oriental practice of “hunting with cats” in order to reduce your grocery bill 😉
