We don’t allow advertising on our forum without a donation so your post has been removed…

Thanks!
Dr B.
For the record…I never posted any links to purchase music, the links were actually to FREE streams so music lovers can hear creativity.
I could see if I was some corporate monster with billions of dollars…that would make sense. However, I’m not…I’m an independent label that focuses on providing the very people that support your forum with music. The music that makes forums such as your own even worth visiting; the music that breathes life into the scene, the music is the scene…nice to see that your priorities are focused more on monetary gain than the distribution of art forms. Please close my account and remove my email address from any of your future mailings.Best Regards,

January 10, 2010 at 8:14 pm #1222091The reason that there is a ban on advertising with out a subscription is to stop sales spamers being able to post willy nilly all over the site.

Jamesyour site has loads of stuff to buy (its own shop in-fact) so it clearly is commercial…
and if the price is just to cover production costs etc then you should be able to understand why Dr B asks for a donation…

Ah technically you are correct, masturbating others costs a fiver.
Self masturbation costs nothing. Apart from the degeneration of ones eyesight of course but it’s well worth it.

Just a heads up…the links that I posted to my tracks were actually to soundcloud.com where ppl can listen to them for FREE.
The links to my website were so ppl can download the mixes from there for FREE.
Nowhere in my posts did I advertise or post a link to the MP3 shop, Ticket Outlet, or any of the MP3 shops where my creativity is sold.
Out of all the other forums this is the only one that I’ve come across in the past 12 years that has instituted such a policy…yet you say it’s not about the money? If the donations are to cover the costs of your hosting, etc then why not require a donation from all of the board members?
And if the donation was just to prohibit posters from advertising all over the site, why not just assign member rules to those logins so they can only post in certain threads? Sorry but that excuse doesn’t hold water at all.
I’m over this, it’s clear that you can’t present a valid argument for why you are attempting to take artists on a short, unfulfilling ride that dead ends.

*shrugs* its Dr B’s site he can run it however he likes, no idea why you think you you have some right to tell him how to manage PV. You haven’t contributed to the community and your site is commercial even if the link wasn’t directly linking to a shop.
By your argument Mc Donalds should be able to post links to their site as long as they are giving away free burgers and the link is to a splash page not the main site…
January 12, 2010 at 11:18 pm #1222093the subscription/donation is not mandatory and ALL board members don’t HAVE to donate if they don’t want to – people who wan’t to use this site for advertising/profit making HAVE to subscribe so as to put something back into the site that they are getting out. ALOT of the members here who do not use the site for monatory gain subscribe off there own back .. now what does that tell you?
