Yeah I went to the dance academy a few times before it got closed down.

If I remember correctly Tom Costelloe got more time for managing the club (5 years) and tolerating the sale on the premises than most people who get caught red handed with large numbers of class A’s, and the 16 dealers from the club who got jailed ended up getting an average of 1.6 years each.. Mental stuff..

The building is properly falling down at the moment which is a shame as it is a lovely building, they haven’t done a thing with it since it was boarded up, and alot of the boards are missing so you can pretty much walk in through the back.
Masses of plants/almost tree’s growing out from the roof/facade which has got to be causing structural problems.. Bit of a joke really, the building was never kept in the best of states, but it was maintained just about enough to stop it falling down. Since the council have seized it (or so I’ve heard from several messy people) off him, they are allowing this listed building to fall into disrepair, which I am pretty sure legally they shouldn’t.

I’ve heard they are planning to rip down the back end to put in conference centers, as only the facade is actually listed. Hope they do something with it, as that whole part of town is going to waste.. I doubt it’ll ever be viable as a theatre as it was originally, as we have several large ones nearby already.

Plymouth is pretty rubbish for club nights these days, tried to go to a tiny club called white rabbit (known affectionately as the shite rabbit) on saturday to the only night we could find on, now the students have left… to be told it was closing early at 1:30, (should have been 4:30) as it wasn’t busy enough.. which I guess is fair enough, but a little annoying, I swear we never had trouble finding somewhere to go out a few years back, it was normally more of a battle choosing where. Oh well.

My mates are playing that night. Lazy-Eye. Sound chaps… Funny as fuck to see them on a flier.. Matey said he was doing a gig up in Bristol on the 30th, but I never expected to see them on a flier on here. No idea what the night is ment to be like, but if you do go and happen to see them be sure to give them some abuse. I’m off to recyrate this weekend, £35 3 days with camping, the wurzels, bad manners, and a pile other shit. Theres a GENER8R stage, should be good. Read somewhere it was setup by DMT but then I’ve not seen that on the site anywhere so who knows.. I think its just north of bristol. I’d imagine since tickets are relative cheap, security will be pretty lax fence wise.

Not made it to any this summer 🙁 Had to redo a pile of stuff for my degree which meant I figured I should try to limit the amount I go out. Made it to 3 festivals though. I moved down to Devon a few years ago, and have had trouble meeting the right people to hear about parties down this way. I’m the only one out of my raving mates who can (or is willing to) drive and to be honest I can’t be fucked with driving a long way to an event which I have to leave the next day, I don’t like driving till I’ve had a while to recover and a lot of people I know have no patience. Wouldn’t mind attending the bank holiday jobbies, as it gives me a bit more time normally to recover which means I don’t have to hold back, but then looking at the vids from the tek this year I think I might just give the larger parties a miss altogether.. If I could go to some smaller ones round these ways I might, but the only things I hear about are bristol/wales way and its a bit too far for me to bother missioning to for one night. I am proper tempted by french tek and dragon festival next year, gunna get me a van and do those with any luck. Should do a few more next summer as the studying will be done so I’ll be more able to get messy.

Off to recydrate the west tomorrow should be good.

Thanks for the replys. Have ordered a pile of Rosco paint and some flamebar. Shall try to post some pics when I get round to putting paint to canvas.

I have been getting the urge to make some uv backdrops and other assorted decor recently. As such I’ve been looking around for uv paint suppliers. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? I would ideally like to know what are the best fabrics, techniques and paints to use when creating drapes for decor. I’ve read some good things about system 3 acrylics but thought it would be best to check before I parted with too much cash. To be honest the lower budget the solutions the better, I’m not expecting anything great as I am no artist, just feel like messing around for a bit. If anyone knows of any forums etc where this sort of thing is discussed more regularly I’d be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

This decor is mainly intended for my walls at home, and maybe the odd party but not in a club environment, so conformation with fire safety laws etc isn’t a must, but it would be nice for obvious reasons.

I’ve got some basic ideas but would welcome any advice people can offer before I go spending money on materials and then ruining them. At the moment I am planning on painting some fairly basic geometric patterns, trying to blag a projector of a mate so I can draw out a rough design on the pc, project it onto the canvas and then outline and infill with colour. Don’t know if that makes any difference etc paint wise.

Anyways any suggestions/input of any kind would be wicked.

              Thanks

Seen a few from this guy for sale recently, wouldn’t be sure about the quality tho.. I would imagine you want kit you can use a wireless link to, so that you don’t loose your studio if your transmitter gets busted. At least that’s what I have been lead to be believe.

Let us know how you do. Mate of mine was interested in setting a small one up somewhere in Devon, where we have a fair amount of spare space in the spectrum. Don’t have many tower blocks round here to locate a transmitter on tho, so I really don’t know how well he is going to do..

I looked into Faslane, talked to some guy at the CND stand when I was at the party conference protest. Was thinking about popping up for the 365 blockade thingy (http://www.faslane365.org/) and checking out the site for a couple of days sometime in the summer.

” that place sounds lovely… im jealous to the extream. so mustard is it a kind a thing u know much about or are u just interested like me…. i have nothing to invest which is a problem…. unfortunatly. people shouldnt own things. “

I don’t know a whole lot about this no, but been fairly interested for a while. Got a bit of money in the bank for a house deposit or some such, thing is I could buy a Nice bit of land outright and live in the country with that, which is alot more attractive than a massive morgage on a shitty little flat in some city.
I’m studing to be a surveyor, and so I have done a fair amount of work on planning regs etc. Its pretty hard to get away with much legally if you want any sort of perminant structure, Esp in the country which is where land is cheap, woodland, farmland, pasture etc sell from £4k an acre or whatever, building land for development can go for up (and over) a million an acre.

I like the look of tipi valley. http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/england/professionals/en/1096909005894.html

I’ve been interested in this sorta thing for a while. Thanks for the link GL some interesting stuff on that site. I particularly like http://bodeswell.atspace.com/just%20a%20tent/images/DSCN3343.JPG #

Looks lovely. I would imagine that it doesn’t contravene planning regulations, as long as you aren’t living there for more than 27 days a year that they can prove. Which is interesting. I’m sure you could live there nearly 365 without too many legal issues as long as you keep it quiet.. Not entirely sure tho. I was looking into buying a bit of land next to a canal and living on a boat there, with a little veg garden etc.. still need some cash for shit like water board fee’s etc, which is a shame.. i think its pretty near impossable to be fully self sustainable unless you have a substantial amount of money to invest or which can provide a income.

A House with a shit load of land, I dunno like a farm with 100+ acres and a pile of out buildings, let my mates live there for a bit, grow shit loads of food or some shit, and a few cheap houses in city locations to rent out, live off the income if poss..

Covenants are fairly common, often to do with things like access rights with shared drives etc.. Even if the covenant was between Lord X and Mr Y in 1900 it still exists today as the new tentants who take on the property do so on the premice that they will keep to the exisiting covenants.. There are a fair amount of court cases regarding them.. Often stuff to do with not splitting the land up for redevelopment, or use of farm land for things like banger racing etc which would effect their neighbours, esp when people sell land adjacent to their property, they don’t want to sell it to someone who is going to make their lifes hell, or effect the value of their house..

I started watching it, but by series 2 I got pretty pissed off with the number of questions and the lack of answers. Used to piss me off when something happened, or you found out about something.. just for it not be mentioned for the next 2 episodes and so on…
I think its gunna be disapointing when it gets to the end, as there is no reasonable explanation which is likely to statisy everyone.. I swear the only reason it is so popular is everyone talks about what they think is going on…
