Sadly i can’t help you, but hopefully what General lighting said might’ve helped a bit. I, myself bought a Numark Mixtrack Quad a few weeks ago which came with a copy of Virtual DJ LE although i downloaded Serato too. Which i haven’t even moved out of my download folder and i tried traktor a while ago. Truth is i really hate using a pc and controller. I bought it as i have a HUGE collection of Reggae and Soul that i just don’t have on vinyl so i thought it’d be a great way to mix up some of my mp3’s for personal listening. It was fun for the first week, but i just felt like i wasn’t doing enough and regardless of how flawless the mixes were it just didn’t give me the goosebumps i get from doing the same with vinyl and doing it all by ear. Fair play to the VDJ’s that do it as there’s some pretty good ones out there and i’ve heard some great mixed sets using serato, vdj, traktor et al and know a few radio dj’s that use said software. Sadly, my new Mixtrack quad is not even connected to my pc anymore and is sitting on top of a pile of vinyl. The irony being that in a week or 2 it’ll be the vinyl sitting on top of the controller lol. Anyway, sorry i couldn’t help and all i could offer in advice would be what General lighting said :S . Hope you find the help you need 🙂

For me it all depends greatly on the genre of music i am playing. For house, trance and some of the slower acid and/or techno i like to use the channels predominantly as i find it nicer for long, smooth mixes. For some of the faster stuff (145bpm+) ie hard techno/acid, gabber, dnb and even the oldskool hardcore (not happy) i use crossfader a lot as i love to chop my breakbeats and faster music up while still using the channels to fade out etc. If i’m using a 3rd channel. Say, for my 303 or whatever other source i have going through it at the time i’ll tend to use the channels more than crossfader. At the moment my crossfader is slightly butchered so i am doing most stuff with switches or channels or both at present

Loved the second track. 1st track doesn’t exists so maybe it was pulled by the account holder on youtube 🙁 . If i can work out how to do some tidy links i shall post a couple of old acid bangers from back in the day below ….

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOdJIm–HX4

Plank – Acid Wars – on Important Records label 1993. The original and still my favourite version. Pretty stompy acid <3

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqytgDjZF5U

4D – Hidden – on Labworks Germany label 1993. Techno/Acid from back in the day that just keeps building and building and building until 7m 45 seconds in then BANG!!! Brainmelting time. Seriously lost it to this tune on many an occasion being it playing it out of hearing it played out. Still sounds amazing 21 years later.

I’ll limit it to them 2 for now but i have tonnes 😛

Edited …. Wahey! The tidy links worked 😀

re-redeited…….. Whoooooaaaaa! Just checked the date of original thread. i really know how to necro an old thread 🙁 (Atleast i worked out how to do tidy links) 😀

Really hard for me to decide on my top 5 as there’s been so many great tunes over the years, but given a push……. Here’s 5 i love and play more than any others. In no particular order

Technohead – Passion (Any mix will do)
                Prodigy – Charley
                Human Resource – Dominator
                Drax – Trope 002
                Labworks – Hot Trigger

Sadly there’s many, many tunes that miss out like 808 terror, 4D – Hidden, Planetary Funk – In From The Dark………. I Could go on forever listing my personal favourites, but i shall stop there 😛

All pretty old tunes now, but still i love ’em <3

I’d go with the HD 25’s. Had mine for many, many years and they have been stomped on, kicked, thrown, squashed in record bags etc and are still going strong. They’re very durable and well worth the money 🙂

1210 mk2’s. Had mine over 20 years and still going strong without a single problem. I actually started out on belt drives and played at a few parties with belt drive turntables in fact i have played on some of the worst turntables going (all-in-ones with pitch controls under the actual vinyl etc), but direct drives are the ones to go for.

I’m pretty jealous of some of the peoples setups 😮 . My setup is pretty modest and consists of 2 x technics 1210 mk2’s. A Numark DM 1425 mixer. A Roland TB-303 (not used anymore but it still looks lurvly 😛 ). A Roland MC-303 Groovebox (Used loads indoors and when i’m out at work). My PC which i have going through 1 of the channels on the mixer for when i want to play some of my own created stuff. Also an Ipad for when i’m working on my music on the go and am feeling too lazy to transfer the stuff to other sources lol

Hi’ya all. I’m new to the forums. So I thought i’d come an introduce myself. I’m a big lover of music regardless of genre, but of course my first love is electronic music with Acid and Techno being my personal favourites. Hope to chat online some time 🙂
